Anyone that follows this thread knows I was quite vocal about all the build quality issues with the 2013 I
    was running.
Well, just got a brand new 2020. So far has no real build quality issues. Other than a few rubbing lines and wires and engine oil dip stick that had to be relocated. Only big issue was the Hendrickson lift axle that had the big nut that holds the hub on the bearing was stripped and the bearing was not pre-loaded. Got a new spindle under warranty, luckily caught during PDI.

Went with the smaller DD13 this time, in hopes it will be better for the emission system. This one is 505 h.p. with 1850 torque at 975 RPM. It runs, sounds and pulls really nice.

I hope this one treats me better because I really like it.

    And no, it still doesn't have door pockets that you can fit a human hand in, LOL. 026 (Large).jpg 027 (Large).jpg 029 (Large) (2).jpg 035 (Large) (2).jpg 036 (Large) (2).jpg 015 (Large).jpg

013 (Large).jpg Well, so far I am soooo glad I decided to downsize and go DD13 this time. What a little powerhouse. I don't know why Detroit still makes the DD15, because this thing out pulls it by a big margine. And this truck is even geared higher than my old one. I think they could cover the market with just this DD13 and a DD16 600.
It's still no 550 Cat, but I'm really impressed with it for a 13 litre.
Now as long as the emission system does better than my DD15 in the long run I will be happy.

Use a fuel additive (Standyne, Hot shot, etc.) as directed. It will cut down on your aftertreatment issues by 70%. Take it from the guy who makes a living fixing aftertreatment issues, not the guy who has aftertreatment issues.....

    Y-L and MartinFromBC Thank this.

Can't testify to Howes. Need to put back the sulfur that our government made the refiners take out.

Thanks. I know the Howes lubricates and boosts cetane. And they say it is DPF safe.

007 (Large).jpg 009 (Large).jpg 016 (Large).jpg Still loving this one. And no real issues so far. The emissions system seems to work better than the 2013 DD15. This one will regen on it's own even putting around town stop light to stop light. You can see it when the exhaust temp goes up over 900 degrees. The old truck wouldn't do that.

Thank you. It's just too bad it can't make it through a work day and still look that clean, LOL.
