What a crazy day. Sure didn’t see this coming when I woke up. Had a scrap paper load delivery. That went fine. Well hauling basically garbage then following it with a food grade load in the same trailer not the wisest of moves.
Currently covered head to toe soaking wet in putrid scrap paper condensation that I had to scrape off the ceiling of trailer with a squeege.Farmer54 Thanks this. -
I have been stalking the #### out of this forum looking for a company to work for. I drove for UPS 15 years (no CDL) and kinda miss the trucking industry. There seems to be a lot of people in this thread that love it with very few that don't. Now I don't even know if I'm in the hiring area but could any of you guys give me any info if you have it on how it is to start otr here? It's something I've always wanted to do and I'm in a point in my life where I can. I thought about going bottom of the barrel and doing like Swift (no disrespect to the guys that like it there but I think you know what I mean) because if I could survive that then I know otr could work for me. When I read this thread y'all are just getting ever loving ####loads of miles and love it there from the sounds of it. Sorry to jump in on this not being a employee but I figured it would be a good place to ask.

What I have to look forward to coming to Millis woohoo! I think I'd take an occasional one of these over daily inhaling plasma smoke and carrying who knows how much steel. That doesn't sound like a great day though!FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Well if you totally ignore the last two posts lol... I looked around and researched for months until I finally landed on Millis. They were the company that seemed to have the least amount of people saying nasty #### about them, and as a bonus they also seemed to be one of the best paying "entry" companies out there, I only say entry because they have a CDL program. It also seemed that there were a bunch of people driving for them who weren't only in their 20s, guys either came over to them, stuck with them for awhile or even came back to them. All that being said I'm not starting with them until later in July so this isn't based on my personal experience, just a whole lot of looking around and lurking on here and anywhere else I could find info on them. Good luck with whoever you decide to go with. I hear running away from CR England isn't a terrible idea, again no personal experience though lolFlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Lol I don’t blame Millis or anyone. Some days #### just happens. If it was 90 degrees outside the condensation never would have been a problem. Driving is great there is always a new experience lurking around every corner.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

That's a good outlook. Let's talk about my day today in the race car fab shop just so we can show that #### happens no matter where you are at. I was working in metal fab today (machine shop) and started my day by the start up capacitor blowing up on a Bridgeport I was I was using....my shirt caught on fire.....then the band saw (automatic) had the sensor fall off so I had to manually cut 450 pieces of tube while it was being fixed....on but wait .....the coolant pump on the cold saw I was using kept clogging. Well after that the power decided to go out for about 0.000009 seconds and ####ed up the cnc machine so that needed reprogrammed again (any of y'all know how to write G code know what I had to deal with). Then I jumped on the fork lift to load our truck with parts going over to the laser shop but guess what.....the Airgas guy wouldn't shut the #### up about a bee that stung one of our guys grabbing a bottle of gas while our truck was at the other end of the parking lot and it waiting for the dock (single dock). But you know what.....I made some ###### racecar parts today.... It's all how you look at things and deal with them. Every company has days they suck and you are gonna have days your job sucks... it's how you deal with it ...... getting some nasty scrap pulp on me doesn't sound so bad now. I have a 2in cut on my left arm along with a nice blister and a nice rash on the right side of my neck where the capacitor blew up on me....but remember kids..... Instagram said us welders all make 1.2 million a year and barely have to work lol. Sorry for the rant, I know y'all don't care but tell me how trucking is the only industry bad #### happens in. Y'all seem to speak really highly of Millis
