ATS is a decent company. Well as decent as a large carrier can be. Everyone mentioned in Mr Pathfinder's story dropped the ball, including Mr Pathfinder.
First off, like any other trucking company out there, your fleet manager is the only person that knows you. Handle your business while your FM is on the job. Dont even bother with 2nd or 3rd shift. They cant help you, they cant make decisions (I wonder why they even have anyone there to answer the phones, LOL) and so you are on your own after hours.

2nd Transcraft is not open 24/7. When I went there, they had my trailers locked up too. They keep all trailers locked up. Cant have brand new trailers walking off. And since you called Transcraft at 1pm, did you give them an ETA? And where did they tell you that they were leaving the BOLs for afterhours pickup?

    3. If it isnt listed on your Qualcomm or Drivertech, bet on your FM not knowing. If in your load info, shipping and receiving times are not listed, your FM has no clue. And no, its not your FM's responsibility to call the shippers and receivers and getting operation times from them, its yours.

    4. Sounds like that load you picked up Wedsnesday for Friday delivery had a crane appointment. You should have rejected this load from the beginning.

    5. Dispatchers are dispatchers. If you need home on Friday, shoot 2 days early.

1). I never meant to imply that ATS was a BAD company, just that I could no longer give a blanket endorsement. Which really should almost never be done anyway. The recent changes give me concern. Not really the changes so much, those can be explained by the economy etc. Its more the attitude. Hard to explain, I know, but I tried.
2). I didn't expect a decision from night dispatch. But shouldn't hometime be in the computer, on your info when you call in w/your truck #? What if they left? Obviously you wouldn't tell the driver too bad we missed your hometime but we didn't know.
3). Yes I gave an ETA when I called, and yes the trailers were out front. But you missed something. The plant was CLOSED, as in shut down, for good. THAT is what I expected CUSTOMER SERVICE to be aware of. That the normal operating procedures weren't going to work.
4). I was company, I couldn't refuse the load to Houston. You are right it was a crane unload at the port. Two red flags, all of which I mentioned to my FM when I was assigned the load. I was told not to worry, it wouldn't be aproblem.
5). Lastly, I did ask to be home Thurs pm or Fri am. My FMhad repeatedly told me that she always added a day on the front of the request to be sure. Well that should have made being HOME for Good Friday services no problem. Like I tried to point out, I wasn't happy about not being able to p/u or del early. Something,BTW, that ATS was counting on to get me home. I understand this is trucking and things happen. But there is no reason, after several reminders
etc, I should have had to spend my day shagging trailers. When there were other drivers sitting doing nothing. Coincidance they were lease? You decide.

I was getting between 8-10k, with the 8 being more likely lately. Just like most folks. Triple six thanks for the input. I'm sure there are things I would do differently if it happens again.

Path, how often did you get home? What area did ya live in? I see on ATS's site where you can be in weekends in certain areas if pulling a dry van. From what you know,is that true?

Im trying to get on with ATS myself as that is the company many people have told me to try to go to, but since they havent called and JB *unt has and im out of money, I just can't wait any longer, if they call while im over the road then I guess i'll drop my JB truck off and head their way. What's the average pay out with ATS? Home time? And local or regional runs?

I have been off the road for a while. Had a very bad time on the road first 3 months, so I decided to kick back for a while and enjoy my pension and family. I do some local stuff, Brother inlaw has some rigs and I fill in sometimes. Still cancer free and loving life.
