A random thought here - it's also helpful to think outside the box, stop chasing miles and cpm pay, look at accessory pay, detention, etc... I drove just under 200 miles last night, delivered 2 trailers, worked from 16:00 to 1:00, and made $313....good jobs are out there, for sure.

They require a squeaky clean MVR, at least one year of experience, and an attitude that says you will go whererever they dispatch you, and be there on time as long as HOS allows it and it can be done safely.

The attitude part knocks about 99.9% of current CDL holders out of the running.

Most I see around my area is .40cpm and 1099 which is where I'm at ATM... As soon as I get another year or less if I can jump ship to a w2 with benefits and 44+ cpm or 20+hr or 1500+ gross.. I'll be on it. I'm thinking tankers because I liked it in the oilfield and I don't see myself making that on dey van or reefer unless I waste my life on it.

Moving out of Chicago you will find it hard to sleep at night. One gets use to the sound of gunfire and the screams of the innocents. You will miss it.
