This is pretty major roadwork that is going to last for a long time. There are different phases that involve different road closures. Check out the website before you travel.

Thank you for posting this. I am a highway worker and my only vehicle is a motorcycle.

I rode 80 to Truckee from Folsom all last summer. I am doing a hunt & explore ride tomorrow because we will be starting up a bridge project in Floriston on May 1 (The little bridge under 80, but understand Granite will also be up on 80 this summer AGAIN!)

Is the detour Rollins Lake Rd?

I do want to thank all you drivers up 80 for all your courtesy!! 4AM rides over Donner Summit aren't the most pleasant but it is what it is.

Obviously being a highway worker, I deal with truckers all the time. Ya'll have a tuff job and keep America moving!! I try to keep you all moving on smooth roads. Thanks.

I'll try to update as needed.

Yes, the detour for 4 wheelers (and 2 wheelers) is Rollins Lake Rd, but the trucks have to go up Hwy 20. Since it has started, there has already been truck roll-overs and even a DUI. I passed the staging area the other night where all the trucks were waiting to be escorted, what a mess! I'm sure that you know to check www.getacross80.com first to check out the road closures before you head up here.

They usually button up by November due to snow and inclement weather.

I road up and back on 80 today and so far they are just doing shoulder work but I'm sure before its over everything will be torn up.

I'm not sure but I beleive this is a multi year project. Looks as if there are 3 or 4 major projects along the 80 corridor. Summer commute is going to be fun NOT!

    Thanks for the info.
