If you had to work on one youd be saying thier the worst trucks on the road. Hard to get to most things to. Your truck doesn't even have 100k on it yet. Yea no #### Sherlock its new wait till it has 400k then come back.
Why are Volvos so much better than all other Class 8 trucks?

Nothing on my 880 shifted around. I always left the table up and slept upstairs. Nice to just sit and eat like a normal person and not balance stuff on the bed. Of course I had a Soundqubed 12" sub (1800 watts rms) in a ported labyrinth box sitting under the table. That didn't slide around either because I used small angle brackets to hold it in place. I did wedge in a full size 1200 watt microwave (needless to say I had a 500o watt cobra inverter too) into one of the open cabinets, and I used the strap for an old school tv to hold it in place when rocking through the mountains on the goat trails we have up here. For the 40" wide screen TV I fabbed some angle iron beams and mounted it on top of a side cabinet at the foot of the bed using proper bolts, if I put down the table, otherwise I could sit there watching it. I went with that instead of hanging it off a cabinet, didn't want it swinging around like the typical TV mounts. The only stuff I was worried about taking a walkabout in the sleeper while I was driving was the sandwich grille, the mini oven, hot plate, and my Keurig coffee machine. So I put all that in the other open cabinet and wedged the metal hot pad I got (so I wouldn't melt the table with oven) in front of them. They all stayed put well. Gee a home away from home eh?!? I won't tease y'all with the 165 db train horns I had (special magic pressure button on the dash), or the technically illegal off road lights I used for fog lights (easy, just swap the regular bulb for a yellow one same luminems and put a yellow film on the glass - DOT: duh, they're fog lights),or the mondo VHF radio totally unlocked with a high gain antenna, or hmmm... if nature called, a porta potty stashed in one of the cabinets. Don't laugh, a nuclear burrito attack can and does happen, usually when you're 50 miles from a spot where the bears can't sneak up behind you. Or when you're stuck in one of our almost daily road closures that can last for a few hours. And like I said in my above photo, I never got out to hang iron. Am I lazy? You ##### bet. After eons on the road, I deserve it.

The chains worked great. Cost me $4200 CDN (installed), but that's thanks to the federal liberal dollar. But also because my truck had uncommon axles and suspension etc. As for the EGR and DPF. My motor was built in 2006, so it didn't have that new fangled engine killer technology on it. I blocked off my EGR and deleted it off the computer. But as for your question, yes, even up here in the great white north, we can get rid of any pesky emissions we want. You just have to pay through the nose cuz of our worthless money.

Well, I guess this must be true, considering even Kenworth castrated their flagship.

They added a W990, but are keeping the W900 as long as it keeps selling.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
-
Which is why they shifted the W900 down on their main website and they pushed all of the promotional images of it off the title page.MartinFromBC Thanks this. -

Straight from the horses mouth. Same as I said.MartinFromBC Thanks this. -
A year late, but yes - every Volvo I've ever driven rode well. For what it's worth I've driven 670's and new and old vnl and vnr daycabs. Even the daycabs that were old, worn, and beaten to crap held together well (all things considered.) I've driven newer t800's that rattled 3x as much.
That's the cab - I can't comment on paying the bills for the engine. I like them.MartinFromBC Thanks this. -
A Volvo might be good but I'll retire before I ever stop staring at a dash like this!
I like my trucks to look and feel like a truck.
SORRY CAN'T DELETE THIS??? Double posted when trying to add pics.Last edited: Jun 23, 2019
