Its not too difficult to bypass CO scales. The only unavoidable one is at officers gulch. Closes at 7pm every day. Occasionally i guess they open the old EB route around where they built tunnel over by the hanging lake on 70. Ive stopped there and smoked a blunt before. Noone knows its there.

Me thinks you need to lay off the blunts, as you're babbling pretty incoherently. There is no scale at Officers Gulch (located between Frisco and Copper Mtn.), the WB 70 scale at Downieville is open 5 am to 9 pm, variable. The EB scale is open randomly based on the mood of the officers in the area. Not sure what old route you're talking about bypassing Hanging Lake, unless you plan to drive up the middle of the river. If you're talking about Old US 6 in Debeque Canyon, it's always open, and it's also where they like to setup the portables.

Yep, but they do the enforcement enough that it starts to get the word out, and they aren't giving warnings, every stop is a ticket. Only warnings appear to be if you're bobtail or within a mile or 3 of the limit. Co-worker got stopped bobtail 42 in a 35, figured he was safe. After reading him the riot act, and pointing out the error of his ways, trooper let him off with a written warning. Next day, friend who drives for a different company go stopped with an empty flatbed same area, but 45 in a 35, they cited him for 5 over.

Personally i feel speed limits should be a hard enforcement in anything larger than a bicycle in every region of the country. Lax enforcement for decades has led to the culture of viewing the limit as a suggestion.

Well that's what it needs to be. A suggestion. What we have is a revenue collection scam.

I love it when the people in the "land of the free" want less freedom and more extortion lol.

Simple solution is to fine the owners of the company in addition to or instead of the driver.

Most trucks have the technology to self report speed to headquarters.. Too obvious I know and at the end of the day lobbyists would bribe the politicians like they did with the CPM model and no OT for drivers.

Old us 6 by debuque is what i was talking about with the portables, and downieville is right next to officers gulch. Youre right theres no way around the 70 scales. Elsewhere in the state there are ways around them specifically the one in fort Morgan and all of the i25 scales.
