Tires are new. Must have ran something over. All of the sudden I felt vibrating that got stronger over 2 seconds then whole tire flew off. Drivers side.

Got hazards on quick and traffic hanged back quick except on truck still insisted on passing even though I was snaking down the road trying to keep some kind of control and to reach the shoulder.

Have you had a steer blow out? Tires are new, lots of tread. I saw nothing in the road. I know steer blow outs are the worst and IT just happened. Waiting for tow guy stuck on the shoulder.

Fortunately hit nothing and everyone is OK except for rattled nerves.

If You had a steer go out what did you do? It kept pulling me hard to the left into faster traffic lane.

I've only had one, it was in a COE years ago. I can't recall what I did, But I can recall being taught what not to do, and that was hit the brakes..... I'm pretty sure thru the cobwebs of time..... my steers were NOT new.

    What brand tires were they?

Even new tires can blow out, see if the manufacturer will warranty it if it wasn’t caused by road debris.

Ran over some kind of deer stand in the road out in east texas. Two lane, 75 mph. as soon as I hit it I heard pfft pfft pfft as the tire lost air. Dont remember the truck pulling much as it lost air kind of slow. Luckily there was a shoulder. Tire flopped off the rim just as I came to a stop -

Roadside bill for new tire - 1053.00

I didnt brake. The rim was slowing me down enough on its own. I accelerated a little bit to compensate until I reached the shoulder. Didn't want traffic flying up on me too much. I don't know if that was the right call. But thats what I did.

Don't know tire brand. Its a 17 freightliner. Even wear on tires.

I kept a good eye on tires. Even had a drive tire replaced a week ago.

One experience I dont care to ever repeat.

Thats a crazy amount of money for a roadside and tire.

If there was a big shoulder on the left side id of gone for it. Simply to protect the road guy when he comes out to replace it.

Had a right steer blow on the bigroad. Truck steered hard right, I pulled the steering wheel left and pulled the hand brake halfway down. Got the speed down and hit the shoulder. I had been passing a pickle park and so I backed up the exit ramp and parked.

Got out and realized that my wheel seal failed and the wheel bearings heated up and cooked the tire. The wheel was on fire. Hit it with the fire extinguisher. It lit back up after the extinguisher ran out. Grabbed the spare extinguisher and was finally able to put the hub fire out.

Anyways, steer tires aren’t a big deal unless you hit the brakes. If you hit the brakes, you’re gonna do an involuntary turn at highway speeds. Good chance that will kill you.
