I go tomorrow for a PAT. I have never done one of these. I was offered a local gig but needless to say its based on this test. Yes, Im nervous. I've been out of work for 6 months. I put on 25 pounds. I had a DOT phys in Dec 2008 which is current. But this test is different, they make you do stuff. If all works out I'll give the job spicifics if I get the OKIE DOKIE, dont want to jinx myself. Till then, wish me luck.

good luck... don't worry too much, it's pretty much lift and carry 30lbs, climb into a trailer, and a push/pull test to make sure you can beat a jacked up set of dolly legs.

We had to do this at my Swift orientation. It was pretty easy for me I also did the flatbed version(you had to pick like 70 lbs and put it on a shelf above your head) which was a little harder but I did see some folks struggling with the basic test(you had to walk around with some weight in a basket and put like 50 lbs on a shelf waist level). This test is no doubt a little tougher on women but if your a man with a decent to good back you'll be ok or a pretty strong woman. Although I guess different companies probably have different routines.
Well how did you do? Did you pass? -
The DOT and the insurance companies are starting to weed out drivers that are potential risks of heart attacks and other health problems. Drivers had better wake up and start taking better care of theselves. If not they will be out of a job! PLS see thread The food is klling Us.

I just had one of these tests. They can vary alot. I had to lift a milk crate with 50lbs of weight in it and walk to the otherside of the room and back. The guy laughed out loud when I did it, cuz I forgot to wear a belt and my pants fell to my knees...how f@%#ing embarrassing. Then I had to climb abot 6 feet on a ladder and back down...no biggie.
I say don't worry...you aren't signing up for the Marine Corps. -

I have seen people have heart attacks and they were in perfect health.
I was not aware they are able to predict this now. I guess I had better recheck my medical training books and contact my medical director.
