If it’s a beer load I tend to keep straps on till I’m a few feet away from dock. I even strap the the air bag loads because I never want to clean up broken bottles and cans again. Smelled like a brewery for a few days after that one and I had zero driving on that load. Just a sap for helping people out.

For example I know a lot of people do not strap paper roll loads. I do even if in reality if one tips over things have to be real bad and those straps aren't going to do a thing. I was stopped for a random DOT inspection one time and had rolls The officer wanted to check my securement. I was good because I had a couple straps across the back roll. It was all for show but they wanted to see it.Last edited: Jun 25, 2019

After sitting here in Brookville for more than an hour already and not even felt the dock plate go down, I've decided that I need to find my groove in trucking somewhere where I'm not so much at the mercy of some random ###### to load and unload me in an expedient manner. There's two companies near me. One does pneumatic tankers exclusively, the other has pneumatic, dump, trash tipper, and straight dump trucks. Already been told by the first company that there is hardly any sitting and waiting for them. Most loads are preloaded and then you unload yourself and almost always deadhead back for the next load. Haven't talked to the second place yet. But I'm about 80% certain that I'm going to be looking for work soon. Nothing against Millis. But most of this freight sucks the ##### of a thousand dead whales.

Well for the first time since I was with my trainer, I go to Orrville in the morning. In fact, that was my very first pickup after delivering in Columbus. -
I'm kind of amused right now. I'm at the Youngstown TA, parked in the back row. This absolutely beautiful 389 with a frameless dump trailer pulls around, and I'm not sure why but he had a pretty difficult time backing into a really easy spot. His trailer has spread axles on it so I know that makes things a little tougher, but I am guilty of assuming that anybody with a truck like that knows how to back up. I mean this truck is effin gorgeous. Just the right amount of chrome and lights. Not too little. Not overboard, and everything all shined up and looking nice.
