Had a beefed up 351 Cleveland that just would not burn up or grenade. Stuck a couple of Glasspacks on the pipes behind the headers after tossing the stock manifold. Couple of other things to the engine as well. But the best upgrade was the old Nitrogen Shocks that had oil on the other half to keep the car stuck to the pavement somewhat. It was not a launch 1/4 mile car at all, but top end was it's forte.

State Barracks were more than tolerant. One Officer had a farm and some friday or saturday nights when I am carting people home from the hall I would be wide open on that stretch of road by that farm. Come down off 135-140 down to 80 in flat second all out for the slight curve and upgrade that was about short 8% then come down a little bit more to 60 to keep her from catching air. Then open up again. It dont take long to wind back out.

There was about 14 of us running old cars plus one who had a 80's Diablo that was just top dog at top end. 150? What a shame not enough beef when it wide opens in 4th going for 190 bye bye old rusty. Ugh.

The emissions people over the years have taken away so much and turned the engines across the board into nothing but a bunch of whining junk that cannot quite get over the hill without excessive downshifting. I think if I am stilla round 40 years from now Which will require a whole bunch of medicine and gallons of strong drink... the state will have to ban fossil fuel cars.

It's a good thing I sold that thing when I did. Tolerance from Lawman can only go so far. At least the neighbors do not complain when I crank the fuel pump prior to turning over the engine late at night. You could hear it 5 houses down.

Both my shovel and ironhead need a little help at a light unless its 80 out and fully warmed up. But not my twin cam.

Your problem is you need to take off that modern CV carb and put a 1960's technology S&S carb on it and then you will get to rev at lights. LOL

Oh and set the idle real low to be cool helps A LOT

I had a 68 sporty (hate myself every day for selling it) that had a S&S super on it, it would idle pretty well once I got it set up decently. It's funny how all the red light revers are on new or near New bikes lol. If it's a shovel, pan, iron head etc I can kinda understand but you don't see a ton of them on the road anymore.

I used to live on the corner of rt10& 340 in Gap PA and it is a huge truck route for guys skipping on the turnpike until Morgantown and also happens to be at the bottom of a 6% grade so all you heard all night was straight pipes and Jake's. You get used to it because it bothered me for a few months and then I didn't even notice it anymore until I moved back to Florida and it was too quiet for me to fall asleep lol. Coming north on 10 to the light dudes were hard in the Jake it was a steep lil uphill lol. That's the kind of stuff that makes people #####, you could probably use your brakes to bring the truck to a stop uphill there lol

Nothing special. 1G DSM AWD 5-speed (a 1991 Eagle Talon). It was decently quick for the time (the first "Fast and Furious" movie was just coming out). I just did the basic upgrades (exhaust, injectors, afc, intercooler, boost gauge and controller, intercooler piping, and some basic suspension stuff).

If I bought a performance car nowadays it would probably be a Ford Mustang V8.

OH cool those things can be made to run.
My fun car was a GN would run 11.5's at 122 in street trim 19 lbs of boost.
If I was buying a performance car today it would be a hellcat redeye.

I had several as well. 1g laser turbo, 2g eclipse rs, 2g eclipse gst sypder, 3000gt... the gst was built, high boost was around 28psi. The crankwalk was ridiculous.
