The single stack exhaust system on my 2000 Century with a C-15 is showing it's age. I had to do a temp repair to the exhaust pipe under the sleeper. As I was doing that I took a few rough measurements and it looks like from the flex pipe to the muffler I could increase the size from 5in to 7in. I would have to reduce back to 5 in for the muffler.

I am not trying for a louder sound, just trying to pick up a few tenths on the MPG.

Anyone been there, done that, won't go again?

I would be afriad that by having to reduce it back to 5" at the muffler you will lose anything that you would have gained. Might look up Grand Rock performance mufflers. They might help you and would be a lot less work.

I have looked at Grand Rock, Donaldson and Walker for mufflers. I was hoping to find a 6in inlet and outlet. Grand Rock came the closest but they strongly recommend a dual exhaust. I don't want to go to a dual, I don't want to work around that second stack doing my airlines and electrical hookup. I might try making a muffler, sort of like a cherry bomb, with the 7 in pipe.

I have to redo the system anyway, so now is the time to be radical.

The 5in pipe is more than enough for your kitty. If you had a ACERT motor than I would consider a larger diameter pipe just because the ACERT motor moves a lot more air. Personally i would just replace the 5in pipes and install a highflow muffler like a Deisel Injection of Pittsburgh type or a Donaldson (I hear they are the same, but cheaper). Basically you want a muffler that is straight through with no baffles (kinda like a cherry bomb that you mentioned).

Buy a Donaldson, then take a 4" pipe or a 4X4 post an run it through the muffler to the end with the collapsed baffle, smack it a couple of times and waa laa you have a very inexpensive straight through muffler with no baffles.

Frenzy, walker(#22920) is a regular 10" muffler with 5"inlet and 5" outlet. but there is no baffles in it, you can see through it. I paid $65 for mine.

Donaldson part # M100463 is what you want. This is an off road muffler that is straight through design. I've had guys take a standard muffler and knock the baffles out, use this muffler and have better flow afterwards.

PP sells it as there high flow stack muffler
