Good idea. Tell a total laymen good hot good ground protected circuit.

How do they do that? What’s the reasoning? Why is it important to fuse within 18” of the battery. I know the answers. Do they?

Your experience makes it seem simple. You have no idea on the technical acumen of the people you’re talking to. Most people will over estimate their abilities and underestimate the consequences. You are feeding that.

 

This is all in reply to a person who asked how to remove lights and a radio. We already know their 'technical acumen'.... Now it's just a debate among those of us with more ability as to just how simple the job really is.

 

I'm using 3/0. It's the largest size that will fit into the breaker.

 

So the OP finally decides to grace us with a response after several days, mostly in response to the radio/deck thing.

I have not searched for all the OP's threads, so I do not know of that one. Don't really care.
But I was wondering, Trucker327, if you learned anything useful with your original question in this thread?
Because I have seen nothing of any real help here. I can't give it to you either.

My first 'real' inverter was factory installed.
It resides under my bunk on the drivers side in the side compartment.
There are 120V outlets on both the right and left sides of the sleeper.

No aftermarket installation will do the same without considerable cost and effort, on anyone's part.

Doing it yourself you have to consider where you will actually mount the inverter, then figure a way to get those thick power cables to that location from the battery safely.
I've seen a lot about the cable size or the overload protection, but what about what is needed to protect the cable going through the hole that was drilled?
Or about the tools needed to get the job done. Some of those clearances might require something special just to drill the holes, so keep that in mind.

Personally, I would not try to do it myself as there are too many things I might miss - no matter how many videos I watched.

Those are the first things someone would need to have before they start the job.

 

Why respond then if you have no clue?
