Hey congrats on the interview. Let us know what happens.

Mine went OK..they asked for references at the interview, but they are on vacation for the next 2 weeks, so I have to wait and see.

 

Keep your head up. I had an interview today and have had contact from several of the companies that I have applied with. Almost seems like things are picking up.

As for the training, I am actually looking forward to learning more. It is OK to read about stuff in a book, but I want someone beside me the first time I cross the border or the first time I have to go to the pier (big here in NS). The extra training will be of benefit and three months will go by quickly. Take advantage of it.

Go in and talk to Heather. They should hook you up with a trainer.
They'll work your ##* off and pay you sh**, but you'll get experience.
The owner of the company is probably the most ignorant S.O.B. you'll ever meet, if you meet him.

I would have taken that with a smile! Beggers can't be choosers right now. I imagine a lot out there would take NO PAY for 8 weeks to get a job paying a decent wage to do what they want at the end. I think you're being a bit short sighted...or don't really want this as much as you claim...

 

you mentioned going out west for the oilfield jobs... don't bother.. i have 30 years experience and have done alot of oilfield and i can not find a job there.. most companies are laying off right now so wait until later when it picks up. maybe in the fall i'm told

 

Yup, I think the last time I hauled pipe upto Edmonton from Texas was before Christmas

Now that oil is going back up we'll see how things go. Natural Gas is horribly cheap still so that part of things is dead in the water for now.
