1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I am desperately looking for a job. I am ready to get out there, but because of my past I'm having a hard time finding a job. Star out of Morton recently brought me up there and had me take a road test. Though I passed with flying colors, they called me in the next day to tell me they were sending me home because they didn't know I had 2 DUI's on my record. My first DUI is almost 20 years old now and my second is 8 years old.
Still, that doesn't seem to matter. If I had some OTR experience I might be able to get a job, but I'm only a recent graduate. Does anyone know a company that will hire me despite my past? I'll pretty much take anything right now.

    Jennruss,

Sorry to sound like the supporter of bad news, but you are going to find it almost impossible for any company to hire you with not one but 2 DUI's. How do most companies view this as you did not learn from the first DUI and they figure that it is only a matter of time before you might get another DUI. Not to sound rude or anything but there are alot of experienced driver out of work right now, with clean MVR.

And No the truck driving school that you went through does not care about you finding a job, they got your money, a good training school would of told you before, your possibility of getting hired on. You might be able to get on with some of the local companies that really don't care that much about your driving past, But then that leads me to the next question, would you want a drunk driving operating a 80,000 pound truck on the roads with everyone else, I wouldn't. I feel that it's amazing that you still have a license.

Believe it or not, people change. I'm not proud of the mistakes I've made in my past, and if I could go back and change it I would. Unfortunately, that's not an option. But I've learned from my mistakes and I'm trying the best I can to support my family in a world with few jobs. Thanks for the support.

You should file a complaint against the school. There is info on this site to help you.
My school sent home ,on day one, anyone who would have trouble being placed after graduation.

    What school did you attend?

You could try to call other schools and ask what hiring potential is available for your background. Do not tell them you have your CDL. They will help you if they think you are a potential student for them. This will give you an overall picture of the placement choices you have.
