NJ has zero tolerance for guns, not just handguns. They are not reasonable, fair, or anything. I lived there for 15+ years, I still go there to shoot competition now.

Break NJ gun laws and it is prison time, PERIOD ! ! ! ! !

A guy in NC drove into the airport to pick someone up with a rifle in his trunk a number of years ago, arrested, car impounded, big troubles.

Unless you want to be a major news item it is best to just not do it.

    Understand I am Pro-gun, pro-carry. . . pro-self defense. . . pro shooting scumbags.

Want to stop most of the illegal gun crap. . . change the laws so we punish the action not the result. If you shoot, stab, or club someone in an illegal act . . . you are gone forever. Meaning I don't care if you kill them, hit them, or miss them. We tend to punish the result, like giving them a grade on poor marksmanship or luck the person doesn't die.

The act is unleashing deadly force. . . if the result is anything other than death it is lucky for the victim. Does not change the act. We must punish the act not the result.

    (gets off soapbox)

If we do not come up with a solution other than it is our right, they are taking away our rights to own and keep firearms. They are doing it bit by bit. Like a giant pythons squeeze . . . every time we relax they squeeze a little more.

Gun control does not control crime. There are examples all over the world that it does not work. Why is where they have the strictest gun controls in the USA (and around the world), do they have the highest crime rates?

If you read you will notice I am pro gun. I do not suggest anywhere in my post that we should remove guns or gun rights.

If we do not give the powers to be an alternate course of action, (that works to reduce crime) they will and do blame it on guns. The politicians know gun control does not work. But it gives the appearance of DOING SOMETHING.

If you have to hide a gun, lock it up, and separate the bullets from it, you basically DON'T HAVE A GUN...so this in effect violates our constitutional rights we had to begin with. I don't see in the constitution where it says you had to carry your bullets in your boot, your pistol in your saddlebag, and have it in a lockbox. There would have been a lot of dead riders.

    I agree
But driving is not a freedom or a right, so long as you exercise with "permission" the privilege of driving they can call the shots

That is whats called the "Peaceable Journey Law"...and it will get you through MOST (not all) states that your CCW permit is not valid in.

Baack is right...driving is a priviledge.

The issue becomes EVERYTIME they catch someone breaking the current restrictions, they use it as a reason to increase the restrictions. They have figured out the process, take away the right a little at a time. Just a big slow squeeze.

I was just curious.. do any of yall pack any heat? I know a lot of state laws would affect a majority but I couldn't see myself without any protection. My wife and I have Georgia firearm licenses and carry every day.

ok- the usual preface: I am not a lawyer.

However, on the face of it, this appears to be hogwash (i.e. myth, etc.) Declaring a weapon at the gate is NOT 'attempting to enter", etc. any more than telling the trooper who stopped me the other day for a burned out tail lamp "I have a weapon in the car" is intent to use said weapon.

Of course, odds are high against the security team being willing to ''hold' a weapon for a driver. . . if for no other reason than it opens them up to litigation. Barring other circumstances that might make it illegal to be carrying immediately outside the gate, a packing driver would most likely be told to go away and come back without the weapon.
