Trucking company sues the family of suicide victim

Ok, let me say this is really crazy. Why would they be doing such a thing.

 

I don't know if there is any precedent in such a scenario. On the face, though, it seems absolutely ridiculous that the family could be held responsible for what another family member does. I don't think the guy was a minor but even that would be a stretch.

This would be like suing the family of someone who goes out and commits murder. I've never heard of it, though, I'm sure it's happened before whether successful or not.

 

Do they think they could even win this suit? things must be bad over at swift.

 

Hell why not...how hard do you think they would have come after SWIFT if he had been the one commiting suicide.....Lets see...Cost of tractor cost of trailor cost of maybe lost load... hell yea go after them as many times as a trucking comp has been screwed....and what about these idiots that jump off over passes in front of big trucks...why should the driver and company NOT be compensated back for damages...hell the driver didnt want to kill anyone. he just got to be the lucky one picked out of the crowd.

 

The only thing I disagree with is that they're sueing the family.. If it was a suit against the estate of the idiot that committed suicide, I wouldn't have any problem at all.

 

let this be a lesson to all: if you must kill yourself, use one of our many national parks instead of a highway.


he borrowed the car to do this....I am of the inclination to think that if he rented the car the rental company would do the same thing

 

This is insane. unless a family is rich they wont have that kind of money,, however i googled Jerry Moyes the other day,, his own kids have a law suit of 110 million dollars against him for taking their college fund to buy Central Refrigerated, Jerrys own brother also has a suit against him for money that involved Central Refrigerated. maybe this suit against this family is brought by Jerry to pay family members off.
