Pepper spray illegal? Yup! But they never said the pocket size can's of WD-40 was! :biggrin_25522: I keep two of them at all time's. Very handy for those annoying sqeeeeeeeeek's and the occasional crack headed ####### that look's like he's about to rob you while asking for a $1 to get a piece of chicken.

I disagree. The local government in an attempt to gain more authority (like most governments, rulers, C.E.O.'s etc.) is trying to fool us into believing that they are granting or allowing the privilege of driving to those of us who pay the taxes for the roads to be built, who pay for the vehicle, who pay for the Tax I.D. or License plates and registration of the vehicles. If driving is a privilege it is a privilege that you afford. Its not granted to you by any other entity.

"The right to travel is a part of the liberty of which the citizen cannot be deprived without due process of law under the Fifth Amendment." Kent v. Dulles, 357 US 116, 125.

"The use of the highway for the purpose of travel and transportation is not a mere privilege, but a common fundamental right of which the public and individuals cannot rightfully be deprived." Chicago Motor Coach v. Chicago, 169 NE 221.
"The right of the citizen to travel upon the public highways and to transport his property thereon, either by carriage or by automobile, is not a mere privilege which a city may prohibit or permit at will, but a common law right which he has under the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Thompson v. Smith, 154 SE 579.
Always look to the American Constitution or your states Constitution for guidance.

    "The Purpose of Government"

"Governments are established to Protect and Maintain Individual Rights."

So then the courts jurisdiction is limited to protection and maintenance of Individual Rights.

Governments job isn't to allow or gift unto you privileges.. Its only purpose for existing is to protect you and your civil rights. You ("We the People") make the laws and if we're turning Government into something it shouldn't be.. its up to us to make the calls and cast the votes to stop it.

The 2nd Amendment also falls into this because it is an individual right that should be protected no matter where you are or what you're doing.

Good post...I never quite looked at it that way where driving was concerned.

I'm all about the 2nd amendment though (just google my username and you will see :biggrin_25525:)

Its absolutely legal to carry a firearm in a Commercial Truck in most of the lower 48 States. 99.8% of the time you wont even have a problem so long as you keep your mouth shut rather than volunteering information. It is your responsibility to know the 'traveling with a firearm' laws for each state along your route. Obviously the laws vary from state to state. Some are better than others. For example: (1) You CANNOT travel into New York City with a handgun if you do not have a NYC carry permit. (2) California requires the firearm to be cased and locked seperately from the ammo in a locked compartment that is beyond your immediate reach. You cannot enter into California with a "high capacity magazine" of 11+ rounds... (3) In Arizona you do not need to lock the weapon and ammo in seperate containers etc. and "Hi-Cap" mags are legal. Make Sure You Know the Laws.

Some of these rules (like California's) are absolutely stupid and most reasonable people wouldn't expect you to obey absolutely stupid laws. Get my drift? Just be aware of them for your own safety so you don't otherwise end up in jail.

I've seen that video before...and yes, it is a perfect example of "You never know when you'll find yourself in a situation that requires lethal force".
