I'm chuckling at this, because price-wise I was thinking hiring a contractor versus a DIY kind of deal. Just weird they would build this thing with no road to it. Then again, my Dad bought a house like this 20+ yrs ago and about once a year I get to hear about some stupid thing or another the former owner had done or not done.

Son , you want me to call uncle six on ya ?

I’m still recovering...

He's slow today. That's two jabs so far and he still hasn't gotten around to addressing you by the nickname he gave you. That's either rude or he needs some Geritol.

People are a strange animal.
I finally cut my mountain man winter beard off the other day. Wife was #####ing all spring about it so I kept growing it. Lol.
Anyway I started to notice that strangers would avoid me. Like at the kids out of town ball games.
I'd be leaning on one end of the bleachers all by myself and the soccer moms w their pussssie tie wearing husbands arshole to elbow on the other.
I did a test and grabbed a hotdog and leaned on the other side where everyone else was. Wasn't 5 minutes and they was huddled on the opposite end. Lol.
Finally couldn't take it anymore and shaved it off the other day. When I come out of the bathroom the #### dog even growled a little bit. #### head didn't recognize me...1951 ford, peterbilt_2005, cke and 20 others Thank this. -
If I was considering such a venture, I'd probably lean toward the Triad area. Still a lot of open spaces and rural areas, presumably at a decent value since they're not really close to anything. But not so far off the I-75 and I-95 corridors. Lots of furniture factories in the area, so you could save on furnishings LOL.
Asheville is already infiltrated with lots of liberal nimby-type politics, and those tend to be not welcoming to anything trucking or industrial. Fantastic scenery and whatnot, if that's what you're into. A lot of icing in the wintertime, if that bugs you. I don't like ice much, so I'd just rent a room there if I wanted to experience the mountains.
I'd guess the Concord area is already sky-high on price. It's grown a lot in just the past 10 yrs, plus there's the Lake Norman draw. Which could be a plus or minus depending on your interest in lake recreation. Probably more tolerant to a trucking operation than Asheville. For now. -
Maybe you got it all wrong ?
Maybe the dog finally DID recognize you ?
Just a thought. -
Interesting morning. At my first drop, had some concrete contractor get uppity with me and my customer about where we were getting ready to unload.
Guy is trying to boss us around. I've always enjoyed how quickly tough guys change thier tune when you stand your ground. Guess nobody has told him to shut the #### up in awhile.
Even more amusing is when I was at my second stop at a site across town, o e of the equipment operators for the customer I had just been at earlier sees me and drives up.
"Hey I heard you ripped into the concrete guy on the other side of town, that's funny as hell"
Word travels fast round these parts.
Speaking of my second stop, foreman there had asked me on Monday if I could pick up a small return the next time I came by.
"Just a couple of crates and maybe a stick of pipe"
It's never what they say it is. Extra securement on the crates because they were a little "yikes".1951 ford, peterbilt_2005, cke and 19 others Thank this. -
You say that like it's a bad thing.
I think it's kind of cool when the neighbors walking their dogs cross the street when passing by my house.1951 ford, peterbilt_2005, cke and 18 others Thank this.
