I thought about saving up and buying my truck but that would take time (credit rebuild is SLOW) I could go out now and pay for a 10-20K truck but if something big breaks how am I gonna pay to fix it?

Planners can give you junk loads until you decide to take the next load offered wherever it goes. The company is not obligated to give you enough freight to pay your bills but you are obligated to pay those bills.

If you are planning on hauling freight for $1/mi + FSC you might as well be a company driver with benefits and no risk, replacement truck standing by, probably even get a new truck with lots of comfort items you don't pay for. Research companies with steady pay, if not guaranteed, and no NE. This option GIVES YOU money, gives you time to rebuild your credit instead of taking on a big or huge financial burden while you HOPE for lots of miles. Company drivers pay zero for scheduled & surprise repairs. Company drivers pay zero for fuel, towing, or tires.

Why not learn this job the no risk way? You may not like it at all and leave within 1 year like most newbies. When you make a big bet the outcomes depends on a lot more than your determination. The company decides your revenue whether you lease-op or company drive. Why not let the company take the risk?

I'm with a mega, they send me to the NE and after a few pickups and deliveries at those tiny customer locations I politely request to exit the region. I like the NE for the most part.

I would say if you do not have the discipline to have good credit. You do not have what it takes to be a good O/O. However, I am not going to say that.

There are plenty of companies that don't go to the Northeast. Just get a company driver job with one of those companies.

I guess I was not exactly clear on this. My credit was tanked when my immediate family used my name when I was still a teenager.
What 17y/o would be getting sewer/electric/water/internet in his name while he lives in a different state with grandparents?
I admit co-signing was completely on me but we all try to see the best in our loved ones, even if it is misplaced trust. The debt has been paid but it was outstanding for a long time

I did my own fencing and landscaping in Florida, still have my LLC actually, but after the hurricane people got insurance payouts inflated by using mega companies who overcharge and give a kickback to the property owner. I made the choice to leave before things went downhill.

I have like a 300 credit score. Several cast offs but no outstanding loans and no debit.
