I know what the x strap is for.
And its not needed on big square bales that are loaded right. Properly loaded hay takes a very severe lean to come off the trailer.
Shingles, onions, insulation bundles........ yes.

notarps4me said: ↑Kind of hard to explain, but I will try. Take 1 chain underneath and back about a foot from the front. In the middle of the front bring it over the top of the steel and secure it about a foot back on the other side.. Do the same on the other chain crisscrossing in the front of the steel in the middle of the trailer. It will make a X out of the chains front and back. Do the same to rear of the load. Then toss the rest of your chains across the top. Bad boy won't go anywhere. No way for it to slide.Click to expand...

I passed by the home terminal on Saturday, luckily it was raining and I won't have to spend too much time getting rid of the stench.

I x-strapped or horseshoe chained EVERYthing I could that was square: Pallets, bricks, etc. Even built dunnage bulkheads whenever I had room to. With TMC and both other flatbed companies I was with. I was not about to lose a load under ANY circumstances. Just figured every car driving behind or beside me had MY family in it. Only takes a couple extra minutes to get the extra securement on. TMC taught me well and nowadays when I see a flat on the road, I compare their securement to the oversecurement I was taught at TMC.
