Sad his first accident was his last. I've had a number of older driver friends retire. Then they would get the urge to drive again. A few of them got in accidents and were killed.

That is my worst fear. I am super worried every time my husband leaves. Even when we have our typical married cant stand ya fights LOL
You just never know when something bad will occur. Some people don't understand that trucks don't stop like cars and therefore you should not jump out in front of them or dart across lanes like in chicago.

that kind of puts a knot in my throat reading that, i never really thought about how dangerous of a job a trucker had until I started dating one. it's hard not to worry about something happening

That call is every driver's wife's worst nightmare..

May the driver rest in Peace, and may God give his wife the strength to keep living..

Elderly drivers need very close supervision IMO
Many struggle with navigating a shopping cart around Walmart and yet are allowed to be a hazard to the motoring public.

There is no such thing as "Saving Lives"
When its your turn to go,you go.

There was one driver I know that was very close to 80 when he retired, and he was one of The Best. But the boss always sent him out working as an "independant team" with other drivers...

My wife got the call one day.

Lucky for both of us I walked away without a scratch.
