I can verify that $0.34 per mile on a dedicated account (not saying which. Anonymity ya know). Regional miles is the same. Pay is the same whether you are loaded, deadheading, or bobtailin however, any deadheading over a certain mileage requires approval from either your dispatcher or LM before it will be paid. (Hint: Watch the lower left hand corner of your paystub for messages.)

As for the 18 years, I have to quote my other half when I read that to him. His reply for better care for dedicated service was "Yea, that's why it took me six months to get tires changed that were close to illegal when I began requesting them, and down to 0.0 when they finally got changed AFTER I called CL's office." Unfortunately at Werner, you are nothing but an expense to them, with a truck number, no matter how long you have worked there.
As for a different company way back when? Yes, when CL was in charge of the company, it was a different company. The drivers were taken care of and so were the trucks. In my other halfs own words, "THEN it was a company to be proud to work for... but no longer as many times, it is now an embarassment."
Other half can attest that the "rumor" about CL buring one of the boys vehicles in a parking lot as truth, as he was there when it happened. (CL went on vacation and the boys were suppose to use money to buy trailers, but instead bought a car. *POOF*)
When the boys took over, all they cared about was making sure they had money in their bank accounts, the cigar shop's back room business in Omaha, improving their stock portfolio value, the multiple businesses they have (Nebraska business licenses are public information), and building a multimillion dollar hunting lodge (reported somewhere between $1.7 mil and $2.2 mil), courtesy of Werner funds, for their father.
BTW, the 250mile story? The pony express has been "disbanded" so, there shouldn't be short hops anymore like that.. "shouldn't be" being the general idea, but not the general rule.
As for shag loads.. FORGET IT. Sittin around 8 hours to get unloaded for $20... ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME?
Basically, he wants to get his 20 years and 2 million miles in.. and then he's done. He said the only way he would stay at Werner after that, was if they offered him a job in safety, but they don't pay crap for that either. He can get a job driving a mobile billboard for $18.00/hr here... and its lookin like a good choice for retirement... LOLluvtheroad Thanks this. -
I got a hold of payroll who did say there was a mistake. I was supposed to get .21 (.20 after perdiem) so that will be fixed for my next check. But i'm still a little put off right now because after that mistake I had a road breakdown that took them
!15 hours! to get a mechanic to me! Who was only 3miles down the road! No restroom and hot as heck down here in Texas. Even the mechanic was p/o'd it took Werner that long to get me taken care of for a flat tire and a busted air hose. At least the road wasn't too busy traffic wise and had enough room for my rig but those flashers get annoying to listen to after so long, grrr....
