So im a new owner op...bought and paid my truck (not from swift) cash...I talked to the o/o recruiter ..he told me to bring my truck in...so they can do a DOT inspection..and that if something was wrong with it...they would just take it out of my check..like if they need to change my oil or a tire...so I take it over there...and then he switches the story on me!! He tells me..that they changed the policy a week ago...to where they wont give me insurance or a dot inspection...that i have to do it on my own and that i have to give them a swift number...i talked to the manager of shop..and he told me..well ive never heard of that...weve never done that before...so my question is to all of you O/O at swift...is this true??? Has there policy changed or always been like this?? To where they dont help...you have to fo everything on your own?? Cause from what i know...or knew...all you had to do was bring your truck...and they do everything for you and just take it out of your check..

Why would you take your truck to Swift???? What was the deciding factor?

Why not lease onto a Owner Operator company not a company like Swift that has company drivers?

    exhausted379, KB3MMX and snowman_w900 Thank this.

Generally when you go lease your truck onto said company you use the insurance they have and they will give you a full DOT inspection during the orientation process before you pull your first load...

Why do you care where the inspection is done? It's dirt cheap at any TA...

If you don't have the money to pay for an inspection, just stay a company driver until you get some savings.

Opendeckin, snowwy, Eddiec and 2 others Thank this.

Yes..thats what i thought...and thats what swift told me..but i hired onto them as company...then i was going to switch over to owner op..because i have my own tractor...so recruiter lied to me..and said that all i needed to do...was drop off company tractor..then bring mine to a terminal...to get a dot inspection...and then we'd go from there..becaude i told him..i didnt have insurance and i havent had a dot inspection yet...and he said..take it to a terminal..and well do that..and well go from there..then when i get there..they tell me..they cant give me an inspection..because i dont have a swift #..and then they tell me they cant give me an inspection..because im an outside tractor..so i told them you said i could..and he said he was wrong..he also told me i need to sign a contract to get a swift #..and i told him to semd me the contract..and he said he cant until i get a dot inspection..and i said i cant get a dot inspection without insurance..so i said...im supposed to be able to use yours...so i can get a dot inspection..then tells me i cant use theirs..

You'll need your truck inspected, but after that they do pretty much everything
