Does anyone know of a school in the Boston area. I'd like to try that rather than go through a company school... I'm seriously thinking about going over the road but don't have a CDL. I'd appreciate any info. Thanks.

I just begun training with Schneider and they don't deduct anything from your check. If you leave within 1 year you owe them $3500, but you pay nothing for the training or safety equipment. I figured why pay for school if I don't have to and I liked the idea of having a job once I get through school.

Having a job at the end of training is a obvious bonus, and SNI is a good school but they treat you like dirt once your out on the road (unless you want to spend your every minute inthe truck), they pay is low and the trucks are a little slow, so covering the miles is tough if they even have them to give that week. So think it out before you sign... And the private schools are conveniant but getting a job after aonly a few weeks of know how is also tough. Besides the schools by me offer training in a single axle day cab with a automatic and a 48' box... in my opinion that's bad, to start shifting a big truck is tough to learn for a lot of people, and a duel axle with a sleeper on it, steers in tight places MUCH different then a single day cab ( ever notice the city drivers have single axle day cabs theres good reason for that), Go the full 9 yrds if you wanna learn, no cutting corners, bigger the training truck the better (long run), And being OTR driver is not for all folks, great in a lot of ways but sux's in alot. I did OTR and now I'm home with my family every night..... I'll keep the big truck but I want to be home with the kids and the wife every night. Counting the zipper lines is way to lonely and boring for me. I live in NY I have all the nice views I need, the one's above and BElOW the shore line...if you know what I mean. You can learn alot by this site the tricks the in's and out's, but don't forget their still just opinions...

Not all subtract money from your check!!! Schneider who has one of the best training programs in the nation does not take money all u do is sign a 12 month contract. Their training program is very good and i would recomend them to anyone all you have to do is give them a year and then u can go where you want!

Based on the research I've done on this site there's only one company on that list that I would even consider looking into further than they're looking at their name. I'm only on my third day of training, but I'm happy with my decision so far. There's a few guys in my class from other companies and other schools and they are extremely impressed with the training so far. One guy just told me today, the second day of training, that he's already learned more about logging than he was taught at the private school he graduated from.

I went to the SNI Academy about 9 years ago. They have/had a great training program. They have a great safety record. Also, whats wrong with paying back your schooling with your time. I see no problems with it if the company is going to train you, you should have to give them so much work/time. There are alot of schools like that and not only in rucking. For instance there are nursing schools that will give you a free ride but you have to work for them for like x amt of years. Sure beats PAYING $1100-4000 for schooling. And NO Im not a SNI recruiter.lmao I work for another better company now.
Have a GREAT DAY
