I live in WA and I'm purchasing a W900 that is in Dallas, TX
I plan on purchasing the bobtail 4 day insurance for the trip home, what are my options for driving a off hire truck like this for 3 to 4 days. Do I need to log since under the 8 day, can i legally drive more then 11 a day?
I plane on posting Not for Hire on the doors. When back home I'll be leased on to Chemical Transfer so under their authority.

    Thanks for helping.

I would also hang “In Transit” signs on the front passenger side of the windshields and on driver and passenger door.

Also some states require a permit even if new truck. I know Utah and Nevada does not sure about the rest.

Paper logs, but 11/14/30 minute break, etc etc still apply. Check the website for each state to find out if they want you to buy a temporary permit.

Did this very thing, except bought in Arizona and went to work in Texas.

Everyone told me I didn't need a log.

Paper log book is like $1.50 at the J.

I kept a log. Did 7 days prior off duty.

Trooper in Texas stopped me. He wasn't a dick or anything either.

First question, " You keeping a log?"

Yes sir right here. All the internet big shots told me I didn't need one.

    "Got your license?"

    Gave him my license.

He smiled big " Be right back, I'm gonna give you a clean Level 2."

Just a thought, you could always hire a company to transport it to you so you don't have the hassle of getting everything in order first.

I agree, I've left my information with a few shippers, first one quoted me $5350.00 haven't heard from the others yet. Next week if no better prices I'm going to try UShip.

Is this a situation where, "Do you really want to go with the lowest bidder"?

Not at All. I do however want to shop this around and vet the company first.

Bought my 389 Pete new in Oklahoma and drove it back to Alabama. The dealer furnished the paper license plate,I added truck to my insurance and had my log book with me.
