Well I learned something fun. A youtube channel I have been watching (Bus Grease Monkey). He showed that a person can get a hand cleaner that are in tissue form. I tried it myself over the weekend and the work very well. Not sure I would use it to replace use of water for bathing as he suggests.

 

Do I understand that you get a new cup and lid every day?

 

I agree with you that it is a problem that wheel holders are not allowed to do minor things. Had to do a half day training for adjusting brakes to be certified to do it at the training company I was at.

Unfortunately I see things like this as just another problem with corporate life.

When companies grow enough to hire a staff of financial analysts (Book Keepers are fine, accountant types are marginal but still helpful, financial analysts have switched to the dark side) and lawyers, those groups push to compartmentalize employees to minimize risk. In trucking companies the drivers are forced into becoming/staying steering wheel holders. Kinda like working in a union place except with few (if any) of the benefits of being in the union.

I see this as an issue across all larger corporation. WE, CRE, Swift/Knight, Apple, IBM, Microsoft, and Alphabet (Google) all have the same rot festering within.

@Dave_in_AZ From a coffee slinger in a previous life. Had a marginal batch of lids hit both of my suppliers.

Setting the lid on top of the full cup to warm up a bit before snapping it in place may help. Expands the lid and softens the plastic. I actually rigged up a coffee pot heater to pre-warm lids near the register.
