@lilillill Can you tell me about your set up with the generator? The generator is in the cab? Exhaust hose out the window? Pics?

I'm new at this & as much as data as possible will help.

Never ever put a generator in the cab, never.

Put it on the cat walk.

Wasted Thyme and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Generator is on the catwalk, exhaust piped up to the top of the cab. This is a mini-split system—12,000 BTU Senville Leto. Condenser unit mounted on the back of the cab.

    $1500 total invested.

Oh dear God no. You did not just ask if the generator went INSIDE the truck did you?

Perhaps Love's, Pilot, etc. fuel rewards program would be a better and more obtainable and rewarding goal.

That’s the way to do it. All the apus are is basically a mini split, and a generator, only they cost 10k+

Not trying to stick my hand in your wallet but how much is your fuel bonus? There are some good solutions out there like the one @lilillill has....that's slick. How much time would it take you to recoup the cost and time of sourcing, installing, and running a system like that with your fuel bonus? Now ya gotta add in the cost of gas and maintenance and the time that takes for the generator.

I was going to get an APU when I bought this truck but none of the TK dealers had any in stock. I'm glad they didn't.

This setup by far, blows away the performance of an APU. The only crappy part is having to get gas when it's cold or rainy out.

I forgot to add in the cost of the pure sine wave inverter with pass-through shore power. It came with the truck but they are about $800.
