I have recieved the call "Honey I totaled the truck; I'm where we had lunch..." and the phone went dead. Uncle Bob and I found the truck before we found him. Luckily, I had heard his voice BEFORE I saw the truck... because I would have sworn no-one would be able to crawl out of that lump of twisted steel alive..

A very sad story indeed. My prayers go out to his family. If nothing else they may find some comfort in knowing that he gave his life to spare others. A sacrifice that many truckers have made. Including a friend of mine in a horrible tanker crash in Mass. last year.

not many people in their 60's let alone 70's are getting into trucking.
this guy had been driving for 50 years, its a shame, he's prob out drive you any day/night/season.
this is the type of guy you should look up to, maybe a 1 speeding ticket in 50 years? thats someone id want to look up to, as i do all the older drivers. they are smarter, and have more knoweledhe of the roads, no old people are using gps units, they dont need it, specialy a gguy that was 72 years old, who prob knowss every road like the back of his hand. if you ask me its the younger guys out here like myself that need the suppervision, being young and stupid knowing everything there is to no.
