Yea I'm not on a trucking forum worried about my job because I can't seem to deliver anything on time. The OP asked for opinions. If he didn't want one he wouldn't have come here.

I could care less what happens to the guy. I'm not here trying to prove anything to anyone. I've already done that and received more raises than I can count since I started driving. But this ain't about me.

    Couple things for the op...
1st. They just spent $5,000 training you to get a CDL, (at least per their accounting) they are not going to fire you unless you do something very stupid like roll over the truck.
2nd most likely they are bringing you in to do a stupid training course that will not explain anything, but it will make management feel good.
3rd. Both you are in training? Even for CRE, that's low....

As to everyone stating it's 100% driver fault to be late must never have worked for a mega. Back in my Swift days load planners would get it wrong about 80% of the time. If I would have accepted their loads as written I would have been late most of the time. Luckily I got a trainer that taught me how to beat the system there.
My point is the driver is only one component on load planning, and a 2 week wonder that was not trained well will not know how to push back to get real times from the planner.

No, it is the drivers fault. It's not the load planners fault if the driver accepts the load as is. Once you accept it, you're saying "I can deliver this load by the specified time." If you CAN'T then don't accept the load and let them know why. I've done that. I've had delivery times that were before pickup times. We're all human. I don't call them and scream and yell, I tell them to correct the preplan and resend. And they do.

Sometimes its for reasons they don't realize. Like I was taking I40 eastbound to deliver and I know westbound is a parking lot because of an accident. If the preplan brings me down i40 westbound and is tight on delivery time I've told them I can't do this because I know I have bad traffic looking at me. They'll usually reschedule for a couple of hours later and I accept.

But if I accept a preplan and then I am late that is nobodys fault but my own unless you have some mechanical failure or unforseen HUGE traffic backup. Blaming this on "working for a mega" is yet another excuse for poor trip planning. Part of planning your trip is ensuring you have adequate time to complete it BEFORE YOU ACCEPT IT.

I have also been sent to terminals to pre-position me for a load coming up.

Granted. He probably didn't think anyone would be such a Nancy about his performance either, but SURPRISE! You got him twice, fella!

Really? Sounds like you just tried to make it about you - puffing your chest up 'cause you got raises - WOO-HOO!! and about how awesome you are.... need another golf clap?... I got two hands and they're free for the rest of today.

Only if he's been trained well enough to know that not accepting it is an option. If that's even an option. Plenty of 'forced' dispatch companies out there.

I stand by what I said too!
I remember what it was like to be a new driver.
I remember what it was like to be young.
I remember what it was like during every age of my life.
I remember being young and not smart with my money. Do you remember that or were you always rich and successful? LOL.
But then I’m awesome, but then some people will argue and say that I’m great and then others will swear I’m awesome. Maybe I’m just an awesome and great person. Who knows

He's on his 34 and also payroll might be delayed for his truckstop insert a dollar internet service. he he he. (Do they even still have those?)

I hate to tease so much. There are some things that are a given.

In Genesis nothing was said about all the truckers needed to deliver the materials that God required in 6 days work. They were assumed to be on time. /satire.
