This will be the 8th set of injectors to be replaced. Truck has 735k miles. Is there anything I should be looking for? Possible issues with head or such? Im getting ready to dump the truck and trailer and make a quick exit from this industry. Sick of this crap.
Hard start issues....again.

I've had 5 sets and 2 singles in less than 400k, last time I had them run a dye test before and after and they found bad install. I've had the head checked and it was fine, it seems it's crappy reman parts and crappy install. The only fix I know of is dump it.
Newto Trucking and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Really wish I had gotten the big red motor now. The "fuel savings" I am supposed to be getting with the D13 is being eat up with hard starts, injectors and downtime. I don't even like the sound of this green piece of crap anymore. I wish it would simply burn itself down but I am never that lucky.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
The fuel savings claims are from the truck sitting in the yard. lol
stwik, tommymonza, shogun and 2 others Thank this. -
Lol pretty much. Hard to consume fuel when it isn't running.

Who is doing the install?

Did you replace them in same shop every time? Any warranty left on job? Should have at least one year or certain miles.
On my last truck i replaced cups only twice and injectors twice in 1,830,000 miles . I remember i did injectors @ Volvo in Terre Haute, Indiana and Expresway volvo in Ayr, Ontario, they lasted 400-500k. This truck I have 150k on reman motor came with injectors instaled , so far no problems with injectors.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Sucks!! I know how that feels..
Dump it ASAP.
Cancelling that new truck you ordered was a bad choice...see
Keeping a maintenance problem truck(high miles+emissions) is a sure way to go bankrupt.
Way past time for a new unit.
Which dealer has been doing these injector and cup replacements? Rockester on all 8?
BTW ... Almost 500k on 2016 truck only had one leaky cup that didn't cause big issues but got it fixed under warranty at 400k.
New 860 TC-XE13 truck arrives in next few weeks, I've learned too many times trying to play the high miles game and cheating the odds.
Just think, with your miles... if you had a Cummins you would be doing an worn out in frame instead.... Big $$$$$
See why fleets don't keep past 500k usually? Maintenance costs more than owning a new one.Last edited: Jul 4, 2019

Rochester has done the last 3 sets. They are just as frustrated as I am because they are trying their best to take care of me. This next set is going to be covered under my parts warranty of my last set. It goes out in 3 weeks. Freight rates right now make it hard to justify a new truck. That is why I keep driving old and busted.
Socal Xpress Thanks this.
