I was pretty much in the same boat with @Six9GS. I was about 59 with hypertension when I was "diagnosed" with sleep apnea. Although I had been taking and passing DOT physicals since the late '70's. There was a period of time when ME's were being a little over-zealous with their diagnosis of sleep apnea. I know of one company that had to switch ME's after finding out their clinic also ran a "sleep center" and they were sending EVERY driver for a sleep study. Several high profile accidents had put ME's in "panic mode". For them, it's a liability issue, they don't want to sign your card then have you go out and crash... I knew that I snored but I do not feel I was ever a hazard behind the wheel. I had enough experience (and common sense) to recognize when it was time to pull over. I do appreciate my CPAP machine and use it religiously. My last physical, I just used a walk-in clinic and had forgotten to bring the "printout" from my CPAP. The ME didn't even care and told me they had backed off a little from the "over-zealous" days of a few years ago...

Oh,what difference does it make let anybody that wants to drive a truck ,drive a truck. It won't be long until the video gamers are driving(from an office building no less), than there won't be anyone to assign liability or blame to, except maybe ourselves, for letting it all happen.

Pardon me. First I am sorry for her loss. Just to be clear. Are you saying her husband died in his sleep from OSA? That OSA is listed as the cause of his death on the death certificate?
