how can I tell if I need to change out a dpf filters. I got Access to a premium tech tool. What Volvo uses. Got a truck doing a regen and dpf differential pressure is between .30 and .48. Is that normal or do I need to start looking into getting a new dpf fitler.

Hi Nasriza and everyone else who can help. My Volvo is 780, 2013, I-shift,wth D13 engine 500HP. Just a little over 1,000 000 MI. Recently I got a faulty code 3597 ( means too frequent regen ), no MIL on. The Code disappeared shortly after that. Ever since (No code, no MIL on, Soot level is low as it normal supposed to be) but it uses a very little of DEF. It runs very well and no problems what so ever. But I know something must be wrong about it. For my last trip of almost 2000 MI, it used less than 2 Gallons of DEF only. and I am happy with that, ( Truck is running very well, no faulty codes, MIL is off, Soot level is low...I am saving on DEF and money for it...LoL). But I know something must be wrong and I don't have any an idea or a clue...what is going on with My truck? Did My truck miracelly deleted or canceled After treatment system by it self ? So I can drive my truck for 5-6 months before I need to bay DEF again. Please help me. Should I just leave everything like that and be happy...or should I look for costly repair? Thank You

Having had the same issue(if you want to call it that)your def pump might be failing. Have you changed your def pump filter? Why? Because they clog up and starve the pump. They are supposed to be changed annually. I would do that first. Then see. You can do it yourself or get someone to do it. If no change you will have to take it to a shop with the VTT software and have them run a test on the pump. This would be the most likely cause but not the only cause.

Regen too frequent due to higher then expected exhaust temperature going thru dpf filter. Your 7th injector control module might go bad and don’t close completely leaking a bit of diesel into a stream before doc or your dpf temperature sensors are lying to ACM. You will be better off connecting to laptop with ptt and check it out

Good point, I had not thought of that.
