Coronado vs cascadia

A truck is a truck all the rest is Hype, you drive it you dont own it so dont get too hung up on what they give you to drive. Make sure its safe, other than that put it into the wind its about making money. So of the best easiest money I have seen is with the USPS contractors like Alan Richie, AJR, Matheson, Hovenstol, they all pay the same because of contractual obligations some where around the 26 to 28 dollar mark per hour, all have otr and local as an option.
2 weeks ago I did 6 days (at 10 hours per day) and took home 1275.00 and was home every night. That was running from Valencia CA to LAX 3 times per night, Starts like around 7pm after most of rush hours over and your done by 4 am. These people load and unload 53 ' trailers in less than 15 minutes, In Torrance Im in and out back on the freeway in 20 minutes going the other way. Anyway enough of that...I also run for UPS, Whole Foods, Advanced Auto Parts, Toyota Parts, So I drive a wide variety of equipment. Worry what you will get out of it more than what you will drive. Thats what will matter in the end.

 

I agree with you for the most part, I dont find the transmission makes lots of difference on backing to me accept the Paccars do not like staying in gear in reverse.

 

I made that point because a lot of veteran drivers, almost all of them I know or have met anyway, have left knee problems (clutch knee).
Autos prevent that.

 

actually learning to drive correctly also helps, they only time you should use a clutch pedal is when your stopping or stopped. But I do understand my Dad had trouble with his knees later in life, I dont but I maybe lucky because how he taught me, which is how I taught my son also.I did have my right shoulder rebuilt a few years ago, acl and ligament impingement problems.

 

My Coronado is a 2014, and you can buy a brand new 2019 I f you like. they have not been discontinued. Mine was an ATS truck, it has a 13 speed, but 9 converts easily to a 13. got rid of my Cascadia, the 132 has more of the comforts and extras the 122SD

I spend more and more time in an automatic, have really come to appreciate them. Spent 32 years driving only a manual, when I got an automatic 2 years ago, it took some adjustment sure, but after a week I liked it a lot. Now i spend my time about 60% in an automatic and 40% in a manual ....I am 100% sold on the automatic though.
Ps. They are not the automatics available in the trucks in question for the intent of this thread, but are ishift transmissions in Mack trucks.

 

Back when the Coranodo was being made as brand new truck with engine and transmission. The only automatic back then that I remember was Allison and Eaton automatic. Those Eaton transmission was a very bad. They would get stuck between gear and truck had to be towed. You had to reset the computers like every 30 days and the X and Y shifters would go bad all the time. They were not anything like a modern DT-12 or I-shift transmission. Today's we have GPS hill location in the transmission.

You can get a new Coranodo today as Glider Kits truck just like you see with pre emissions engine and manual transmission or you can buy that 122SD truck with all the modern engine and automatic transmission

 

The Mack/Volvo ishift transmission seems extremely reliable. Mine pulls very heavy loads, in the extremely mountainous areas of BC, and not a single issue with any of them.
