I was told there are NO classes set for 2009

Schneider... It is my understanding they have suspended all hiring of new drivers and shut down all training facilities until further notice. I believe, like Knight, they are now requiring a min, 3 mos. or 6 mos. to be considered for hire.

I'm not surprised . With more companies going out of business there are more experienced drivers looking for jobs . Wannabes better think twice before paying for their own schooling . There is not the driver shortage there once was and too many people losing jobs n other careers are thinking they'll give trucking a try . Watch this abundance of available hirees result in low wages and more abuse .

I heard the same thing. I was shocked actually. Didn't think I would see that one happen. It is getting bad, no doubt. I feel so bad for those people that think they are going to bust right out of school pulling in a grand a week...try more like $300/week for a while if they're lucky. Problem is, this only makes the roads worse as you have a bunch of new drivers on the road who are not happy campers and are bitter...not a good mix. Once they feel the first shaft slipping up their posteriors and realize what trucking reality is...they turn mean, LOL.

    BillJ72 and Lilbit Thank this.

I spoke to a recruiter 4/24/2009 and they are hiring for tanker drivers. The recruiter gave me a list of things i had to fax to her including my certificate from the cdl scholl that i graduated from 3/16/2009. Hope this info helps.
