You are over thinking the issue..me thinks.
CMV Driving Tips - Driver Distraction
“Officer I was just reaching for my sammich and ended up in a ditch”
You’d likely be cited for distracted driving.. Eliminating the need for a law outlawing sammich eating while driving..

I set up the dashboard buffet all the time cops can drive by and clearly see an open McDonald's burger container a Subway wrapper meat munching away on it cruising down the road not a care in the world of course I don't do it in heavy traffic where it's stupid or stop and go traffic that's just dumb..nothing if you draw attention to yourself you're only asking for trouble
I have do have trouble with Taco Bell it makes too much of a mess I usually get dine in..Intothesunset, Truckrazy, BigBob410 and 1 other person Thank this. -
It makes much more of a mess when it comes out, atleast in my experierence.MACK E-6, Dale thompson, Intothesunset and 4 others Thank this.

There was a story on CDL life not long ago about a driver that flipped his truck because of a Taco he was eating. Another because of a puppy he had in the truck. So without getting specific the law considers them all "distracted driving".

Then why do we have that saying, “Eating on the go”........ That’s the only way i eat.
Intothesunset, motocross25, BigBob410 and 3 others Thank this. -
Yeah, you right about that. I am not arguing it being considered reckless, is just that people call it "Illegal", while its not! When law says "Illegal to text and drive!" there is an actual punishable law. But yet again anything that distracts a driver can be reckless.Intothesunset, SuperRookie and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

again common Sense must come into play some people shouldn't even be allowed to walk on the street... if you're a new driver controlling an 80000 pound commercial motor vehicle Focus..
if you have a lousy safety record Focus
you have a good safety record you know what you're doing you have everything within reach but you know the limits..what I do the subway there's no veggies it's strictly meat and cheese hot cut in half no problem..D.Tibbitt, Intothesunset, Truckrazy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Oh I agree. I don't buy messy food when I gotta roll. But I wouldn't try eating on 495 in the s curves in traffic. Common sense is rare nowadays but if people would use it there would be a lot less issues!D.Tibbitt, Intothesunset, Trucker Kev Paid Tourist and 2 others Thank this.
