Just wanted to say thanks for taking time out to talk to me on the phone. I still did not catch your name or the name of your company. I think this job offer is going to work perfectly for me. You are a small company which I like and you value home time which is also important since I have a wife and children.
You said you were going to be on vacation starting Wednesday of this upcoming week. However, you did take down my name and drivers license number.
Could you give me a call at 706-633-3589 and let me know if everything is good to go with you guys taking me on? The reason is that I need to get some things before this trip but I don't want to go out on a spending spree before I know that everything has the green light. I need to get another cell phone on top of a few other things.
I am looking forward to this and I'll be waiting on your call. Once I get it, I'll get everything I need and be ready to meet you in person to get started.
Chris

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I will let you know first of next week what the insurance says. Lets see how everthing works out before going on a spending spree this is a new venture for us as well. They should let me know something by monday afternoon. I have a bit of work yo do myself to get it ready too go like I said the reason we ended up buying another one was a guy sideswiped it in michigan and there is a little damage on the fender, bumper and quarter fender that I need to take care of. I should be able to get it all taken care of within your training time. You dont need your own cb there is a cobra bluetooth in the truck that u can use its brand new. I think you will like running with us like I said we like to get home even if its just 4 one or two days passing through. Thanks Tom

Sounds wonderful. Yeah I dont have a CB. I had one that I kept forever but I sold it a few years ago. Let me know if I can help in any way. I am not very experienced in repairing a truck but I want to offer my help if you need me for anything before I actually start driving. Im just sitting here at home anyway.
Thanks Tom. Ill be looking forward to the call next week. I dont think there will be any issues especially since I have my DAC in front of me and its pretty clean.
Take it easy. -
The thing thats worring me the most is my upfront cost. My tag comes due july 30 and im hoping to be able to just add this truck for min. upfront cost untill we see how things will pan out, im hoping that the deadline on the tag hasent passed where I can get the tag for the remainder of these months to see how this works 4 everyone without having to invest in a full years tag. I am at the point with my capital im pretty comfortable with my situation now but im not at the point I can take a big lose on a chance. Im going to do my best to work this thing out best for everyone. A year ago I would not have hesitated to do this but things are very tough now and mistakes hit hard. I just ended up with a good truck thats sitting and I know that I have two choices sell it or run it and in this market it wont bring much and im not giving it away. Im just a little gunshy about hiring as I ran a previous business and that was what got me in the end. I started fresh with trucking and the thing I loved most about it was I could handle my business and get enough work done to make a living. As far as the truck goes Im just going to fix the spring pins and bushings and get my guy that does my bodywork to get the fender patched up where it doesent just keep cracking its not that bad just cracked it really could be run just like it is as far as that goes if I hadnt run up on a deal on this other one it would still be running today. I just like to keep my stuff in good shape the new one I got is the same age as my international they put a reman motor 35000 miles and a reman trans 0 miles I got it out of the trans shop but little things like interior stuff and switches were looked over and I have been working on that stuff for about a month now when it could have been just taken care of a little at a time when it happened pisses me off. I will be in touch with u first of the week to let u know how things are going and I hope this thing works out well for us both. Thanks

Yeah I understand how that goes. I guess though, if you think about it, even if you come out with a small profit from me running the truck, its better than letting it sit. At least that is what I would think anyway.
Im not looking to make a huge paycheck each week. I understand that you guys are just a few truck operation and I am willing to take this as slow as you need to go. If for some reason it simply is not working out and you are falling in debt due to me running, I will understand that too. Hopefully it wont come to that since I think I am going to enjoy working with you and your dad. Right now, I am unemployed so even if I am only getting one load a week and brining home 200 bucks, its better than nothing you know?
I know we don't truly know each other well yet but dont be scared about hiring me. Im an old "country boy" myself and I dont get uptight or upset very easily. I tend to go with the flow and I believe that if I treat you well, you will return the favor.
Ill hear from you tomorrow. Hopefully it wont be too bad with the costs and everything. I do not know the financial side of this buisness but I know there is only so much you can do. I know you are taking a huge risk by hiring me since I am your first non-family employee but you can rest assured Ill do my best to do what needs to be done and work with yall in any way I can. You sound like a good bunch of folks that understand there is a balance between money and family time. I cant stress enough how excited I am about this and again, if there is anything I can do, please let me know.
Oh, and dont worry about getting the truck in 100% working condition. When I drove for Covenant, I was in a beat up POS Freightliner in which half of the lights and systems didn't work. As long as I can safely operate the truck and pass inspections, Ill be fine. Im certainly not going to cry over something simple like a map light not working.
Once I get the word from you that you are able to get me on insurance and such, I plan to go to Wal-mart and buy everything I need to run the truck. From things like a sleeping bag or sheets, to everyday stuff like pens, paper, and a clipboard. I already have a set of basic tools and gloves that I need. The stuff I dont have such as a good Atlas, I intend to get on that first trip out with my trainer.
But now I am jumping the gun I guess. I'm just excited and I am hoping everything works out so that we can at least give this a shot and see where it takes us.
Thanks again for everything you have done and are trying to get worked out for me.
