Sheetz are decent, but how many are big enough to allow multiple trucks to pull in? Every one I've ever been to (or passed) was barely big enough to let the fuel tanker in!
White Castle- that is the ultimate in 'Spring Cleaning', if you know what I mean! Burgers need to be a little rare, can put veggies on it but leave off the sauces so let the burger flavor through.
Steak- the redder the bettter, and if its mooing on the plate, then it's perfect!

Have you ever eaten at a Rax?

I only know of two Sheetz that have truck stop configurations ... Dubois, Pennslyvania and Mount Jackson, Virginia. All others seem to be geared towards four wheeler traffic OR am I incorrect?
-
The one at Mt Jackson is better than any Pilot or LOVE'S I've ever seen. Good configuration for easy in/out, decent amount of parking, and lots of food choices don't hurt either. They have made-to-order food ( i get the italian flatbread ), a coffee bar ( not 2 bad but it's no Starbucks ), and a Wendy's in store. There's a Burger King and Denny's across the street, and just across the tracks is a large grocery store ( food lion???) with other little stores in the same parking lot. I try to make this my overnight stop whenever I go up I-81 from home.

I like the Sheetz truckstops too....there are only 2 that I've seen as well (same ones someone else mentioned- PA and VA). I once had to run dedicated out of that Walmart near Dubois PA & spent a couple nights at the Sheetz. Sure beat the Pilot across the street!
There is a chain in Maryland & Delaware called Royal Farms, that have the same kind of "made to order" automated ordering system that Sheetz has. Pretty good, and there's at least one Royal Farms with truck fuel/parking on US 13 in Delaware.
They also have a cold case with a pretty good variety of healthier choices- salads, fruit cups, yogurt, fruit juices, etc. And if I'm not in the mood to be healthy, I like the fact that I can get a steak & cheese hoagie the way I like- lettuce & mayo, without the icky peppers & mushrooms on it

MMM....rare steak....if I could chase it around the pasture with my fork & knife, it'd be perfect!
Burgers, I'm a little more cautious with...won't usually get rare, unless it's a burger joint I trust. The Tomahawk truckstop off of 76 in Brighton CO actually makes a darn good hamburger, and will fix it as rare as you like it
. I get so fed up with most truckstop hamburgers & most cooks' inability to cook anything "well done" without making the burger a dried-out hockey puck.

Sheetz and WaWa. I prefer either of these over truckstops. They tend to be cheaper to pick up drinks and sandwiches. You also get it your way as you've already said. WaWa has a turkey dinner bowl they call the gobbler for $2.99 How can you beat that right?
