Been to the Campbells in Sac that you are talking about, we drop and hook there too. Same thing, never had a prob with being over axle or gross.
LOL, made me think of the time I was picking up knock off lego's in Washington. After 12hrs of waiting and still not being loaded my DM had me drop the trailer in the door and just leave. The shipper called my cell 3 am the next day saying I was loaded and to come inside for the paperwork. I told them I was already in Oregon and to call the CSR.
Is this shippers sign legal?

Guarantee you if I got to a place like that, and saw that sign, I'd be on the phone to dispatch and let them get it straightened out before I even backed into a dock. Shipper can wait on me for a change.

I picked up steel plates in a dry van once. It was a 43,xxx load. 13 pallets. They put them all in the nose. I didn't see them load it. It didn't feel good pulling so I knew it was bad. Scaled it and had 42,xxx on my drives. Needless to say i went back. Told them about it. Then they asked me how I wanted it. I said single file down the center half in the front half in the back. They couldn't understand why but it scaled fine fter that.

Another place that bad about loading is Americold. Evey load I have pulled for them regardless where I pick it up is almost always tail heavy. The worse was from the Lima,Oh plant headed to Cali. at 39k on the trailer tandems. I finally got out of there the next day and ended having to swap the load. It was also a load headed home.

Learn to speak and treat them the way you wish to be treated. I do not have problems like this, mostly the driver walks in with a attitude, and thats not getting you anywhere. A tow driver is not responsible for how a truck is loaded. If there is a ticket issued it is issued to the company that owns the equipment.
When you walk in looking for trouble you will find it. Right now is not the time to be peeing in the wind. There are lot more trucks than loads, if you dont want it they will not care, your going to loose. -
Would like to ask those of you with the experience, just how do you tell them to load the trailer when your asked. I've had that happen to me twice so far and have been lucky enough to have some experienced drivers there willing to help me out. Here are 2 things that have happened to me and luckily they worked out but how would you have handled it.
1st example-picked up a sealed load of meat. To get it to weigh correctly, had to leave the tandems all the way to the rear. Weight wise-legal. bridge wise, pretty sure it wasn't. Turn it down and ask them to reload it or just run it depending on where your going? I ran it and got away with it.
2nd example-a 2 pickup load. Have no idea what the 2nd pickup is or how much. Company won't or doesn't know what or how much 2nd pickup is either. How do you tell them to load truck? Again I was lucky. Had them load a single then doubles. After 2nd pickup was under max on the drives by 500lbs.
School doesn't teach stuff like this and neither did the company. Any info and help you can give would be greatly appreciated.kickin chicken Thanks this. -
I wouldn't have hauled this load until it was legal in all aspects, not just weight. Bridge law fines can be pretty steep. Worse than over weight fines a lot of the time.
If you had the phone number to your second pick up, I would have suggested you call that shipper and find out the weight of that pick up since your dispatcher didn't wanna dig for the info. What some of you new drivers may not realize is that one of the top 5 questions asked when booking a load is how much it weighs. Maybe your dispatcher didn't know, but I'm more than pretty certain that the load planner or the broker for that load knew what it was. However, what the actual weight of the load is and what a broker or load planner tells you is seldom the same.Panhandle flash and kickin chicken Thank this. -
had one in tn that overloaded me i call my boss he got on the phone and asked them to reload the wgt was 49k they said they would not reload it. my boss told them thats ok now just unload their crap we are not hauling it.

-as for the signs some of these people put up- i just act stupid.
-with scale ticket in hand, my policy is... reload it or refuse the load and take it off.
-when signing the BOL i will put SLC as my middle initials. -
Does signing slc really accomplish anything ?
