Actually, i wont work for a company with over 50 trucks. The reason is you still get benefits and have a unique opportunity to move into management within your career. Companies with less than 50 trucks dont have any bs big company red tape, and usually pay way better anyway.

Yeah, I'm starting to look for a new company to work for. Hogan has been good to me, but they've got a lot of changes going on, some good, other bad, and we seem to be losing our I-44 corridor (I live on I-44 in MO), and it's getting harder for them to get me a load going home every weekend, and still keep my miles per week up. We've had at least one customer drop us due to our clueless drivers, another customer is having communication issues between them and their warehouses, and then there's the account that went away recently which cause them to force me to move out of a manual truck into an auto. All of that is making me seriously consider and even start looking for another company to work for, preferably short-haul or regional, that gets me home at least every weekend, at a minimum.

Ive noticed a new trend lately. Companies will say and do anything to hire a driver. In the old days they did this, but youd figure out the lie immediately. Nowadays the job will be great for the first 4 months, then they will start asking for favors. Youll think "sure, yall have been great up to this point, ill do it." Thats when you have to worry because the favors will start out small and earn you some good extra pay, but evolve into more of that pure ole bs all drivers ##### about. Im actually a former owner operator who came to a local part time job to work on a computer science degree. As a former owner, i have a great idea how the business works so i know im being taken advantage of. Just be careful out there

The sad thing is companies are saving a grip of cash in premiums and in claims but the savings aren't translating into better pay. Ive heard it more than a few times in my 20 year career, “we would give you guys a raise if you'd stop hitting stuff.” If a company will disclose the info ask them how much has there incident/accident rate been reduced since camera installation.

I just spoke with a recruiter at Heartland Express, and he told me that they do NOT have cameras in their trucks. Will be working for them after orientation next week.
