Use the shake to your advantage. If you run a bit hotter, you can drag the rod along. I put a enough pressure on a 6010/6011 to put a bow in the rod as I go.
For those looking to gain some more info, 6011 is an AC/DC rod and 6010 is a DC only rod. Other than that and the type of coating, they are almost identical rods. Most people won't notice the difference between the two.

I use my off hand quite a bit just like that. Vertical up progression is great for gaps. Very little, if any, manipulation (side to side movement) is used on stringer beads.

That thyroid could very well be why you're so big too. It controls the metabolism and your body temperature among other things. Many people have problems with it.

 

I had the Fostoria Mod Shop weld me up some new exhaust. The employee drives my vehicle back around front, empty beer cans falling out as he opened the door.

I was playin around on a piece of 3/8 steel today. With a 6011 and about 100 amps, you could flip it over and the bead was glowing red on the back side right after the weld. But I ain’t pressing near that hard.
