Finally they fixed that stupid traffic light at 20&63 used to be exactly two seconds yellow light in 55mph zone . Thats where I've got red light ticket about more then five years ago but they dropped it to parking violation $160 . ####er was fueling his tahoe at Sunoco and heard me honkin. At 80k gross two seconds even at 50mph is impossible so.. i had to use my horn to that other car sitting at 20 and i was on 63 SB so cop heard it too and im im short by 160 now lol.
DOT trap lol

I agree with that light. I always approach that intersection at 35 no more. One time I was approaching that light.... It turned green and then red again. 80k gross try more like 100k gross on a overweight permit. Light turned green I started to pickup up momentum, light turned red again I had to stop. How irratating good grief
Onemanshow Thanks this. -
So let me get this straight.
Your speeding and get a ticket for speeding...and then some blame the cops for writing the ticket?
Or no permit for their ovsized load...blame the DOT for the ticket?
Don't chain the excavator down properly for example, and get a ticket...its again the fault of DOT???
Drive at the maximum speed on the sign or less.
And haul stuff legally.
End of the problem.
I went by a cop hiding in the bushes last week, had his radar gun out checking my speed with it....guess what...no ticket. Oh ya right, now I remember why...i wasn't speeding.HoneyBadger67 and Long FLD Thank this. -
Your attitude at the start will dictate how the interaction plays out. It is possible to not get walked on without being a complete donkey.
Back in 2013 there were 7 of us that loaded fats in Canadian TX going to Brawley CA. I was at the back of the line going thru Amarillo and got picked off by a DOT cop. At that time my log was still legal and I had a scale ticket from the feedyard showing the weight of the cows. He directs me down to the wide concrete shoulder in front of the Petro and got out his portables. My weight was legal. My logbook was fine. He checked my side windows for tint (they had no tint other than factory). Then he tried to say my lettering couldn’t be on my frame. All I said was there were no regulations on placement, only that it had to be visible from 50ft during daylight hours. Then he walked around and checked my lights and tires. I was irritated he held me up for an hour, but I kept my cool and didn’t get any tickets. My FLD was light, so all I did was when he was cutting me loose I let him know that if he grabbed any of the other trucks he would’ve been writing an overweight ticket because not a one of them can scale a 48k load. He just kind of looked at me.
If I’m legal weight I have zero concerns about running across any DOT. I know my equipment and I know the regulations enough to stand up for myself.wore out, Lepton1 and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
They said we are going to be here all week, and if I was over weight or length again they would ticket me to the maximum allowed. But as my first offense was being let off easy, not even an over weight ticket. They watched me every time I went by for the rest of the week, two trips a day into the mill, didn't even stop me. If I didn't like the load i had the bucker man come over and cut off the tops of the trees, and when it looked heavy enough I told the button top operator to stop loading me.
I was paid by weight, but it was not worth it to run heavy.
Good lesson for this young and stupid driver. Heck a guy on this very forum now owns my old logging truck.HoneyBadger67 and Long FLD Thank this. -
I will add that the tickets I have received I knew I was getting as soon as I saw the DOT. I donated $400 to the state of OK a couple months ago. They didn’t get the belt shut off in time and I chose to run it instead of spending the time to blow some off, and it cost me. But I’m a big boy and it was my decision to leave with it.

Got pulled over by the MtDOT today with a load of logs 10 miles from the mill. Over gross by 2700, over bridge by by 8000, overlength by 3". I pleaded ignorancy. After 2 hrs I was I was let go with 2 $10 trip permits and told not to do it again.
First he told me he was going to write me up a $200 citation for the bridge law so I told him that's fine it's my own fault for not looking at my length for bridge laws than he came back and said beings I'm a new owner he"ll let me go this time.
Then he sold me a loggers permit which gives me 35,000 on my tandems and dont have to worry about my my bridge as long as I stay under 80 k which still confuses me!
I've dealt with a few Leo's that enjoyed there authority but I believe most are still out there to serve and protect.MartinFromBC Thanks this. -
...even for a minor violation, like "air line is rubbing on headache rack".
Yes, it's true. There ARE filthy cops, willing to take coin for a bad stop. Yes, there are ABSOLUTELY righteous cops that follow the letter of the law. I have ALL the respect in the WORLD for really good LEO's. We NEED them.
But you cannot say that ALL cops are clean. The temptation is great.MartinFromBC, InTooDeep and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this. -
MartinFromBC and Lepton1 Thank this.

They ARE human beings, subject to fault.
It's just that LEO's a SHOULD be held to a higher standard, just like truckers.TROOPER to TRUCKER, wore out, FlaSwampRat and 1 other person Thank this. -
