Set it on DC Reverse (DC+) and knock the handle off of it!!
Yes it will.
Don't try to squeeze the life out of the stinger or gun, just hold it.
Yes, 6010 is the vertical down rod of choice. 7108 doesn't like vertical down, but it stacks nicely going up.
My mentor ( retired Oklahoma rig weldor) taught me to run 6010 first. Then he taught 7018. Those are 2 different animals. He told me, "If you can run these 2 rods, you can run any of 'em".

I do burn up alot. But according to the thermometer I average 97.3 degrees when I'm not running a fever.cke, Feedman, Crusader66 and 10 others Thank this. -
And you paid them for a job like that. Were you bent over walking in? Holy Crap I’ve welded just a few times in my life and I do better than that.cke, Feedman, Crusader66 and 13 others Thank this.

I used to run a little cooler than 98.6 too. Tell the healthcare professionals you would like to have the levels checked, and why. That shake is a possible indicator. Could be other stuff but Google can help you a boatload if you can figure out the right questions to ask it.cke, Feedman, Crusader66 and 12 others Thank this.

Same here. In college they taught us 6010 root and 7018 filler passes. Vertical up never vertical down. The prof had us do X-ray and destructive tests to show us why. Much less fusion and pen on vertical down.cke, Feedman, Crusader66 and 12 others Thank this.

This is the bottom of a 1/4" plate welded to a 4" piece of pipe. I used 1/8" 7018 about 140 amps. The ring is not a heat line, but displaced material that is pushing through from above. My mentor referred to that as "110% penetration".
When you lean on a 6010/6011 rod, you will get the same result. It will generally take an additional pass to fill the undercut from the 6010/6011.
Top view of the above plate.
The finished pieces. They are risers for a timber frame porch. They bolt the bottom plate to a concrete pier and build a cinder block box around this, then cover it with stone. The post has a pocket in it that slides over the tab. They drill a 1" hole through one side of the post, the tab and partway through the other side of the post. Then they drive a 1" steel pin to hold it down. -
I had them repaint a door on a car for me. They only charged $750, I was happy with how it turned out that I didn’t mind paying $300 for the muffler swap.
