Unrealistic dispatch?

I know exactly where it is. The old Detrioter was a personal favorite as well as Winsdor. What food unavailible in the USA makes the difference as does the Casino on a good exchange rate.

 

It is about a 13 hour trip by load planning calculations but then I wonder if it is an intra-country load, I thought Canadians were not allows to haul within the us.

 

Sounds like he is in Windsor and picking up there.
Cross the Ambassador then down to 80 in Toledo. One thing I'll note is to plan on a bit of time crossing the bridge. It's rarely a speedy crossing. (At least according to guys I used to work with that did it daily.)

 

I believe in general this is true BUT let’s say he delivers in NJ and there is no load back to Canada. His company finds a load from Another state back home. I am pretty sure it is legal for them to haul a load in the US from state to state to get to that load. I’m not an expert on Cabotage laws but I did do some research a few years ago when I saw a lot of Canadian trucks in Texas hauling loads within the US.

No, it is not legal to haul from state to state just to go pick up a load back to Canada. Same goes for US drivers in Canada, cannot haul point to point within the country only pick up and deliver back in the US.

Now that doesn't mean everyone abides by the rules, after all what is trucking but an entire industry hell bent on breaking every law that applies to it. But if caught the penalties to both driver and company can be quite substantial.

 

It was ooooh... 8yrs ago that I worked for celadon (don't judge me) and, since they had their Canadian division, they would have me deliver wherever, deadhead to yard and grab loaded, deliver that then bounce to a liveload to head back to the states. I knew about the law y'all mention, but just said "#### it, they know what they're doing"... *shrug*

 

So you ran illegall then good thing you didn’t get caught.

 

If that was the most illegal run I'd ever made I wouldn't have even put it in writing. Funny thing is, with *most* cops, if you own up to benbreaking the rules they go easier on you. Especially if you're doing so in a (ahem) safe manner.
