my family and I are looking to move within 6 months from Pa to Florida, between Tampa and Sarasota. It’s not easy finding a job there online. Any advice on where to look? I have 8 months experience, will have over a year by then and I currently have my Hazmat, TWIC and tanker. Out 5 days at a time isn’t an issue but would like to be home 2 days a week. Any advice would be appreciated. Also reefer work or running a bull rack would be fine, I can handle it all.

Abco is a Reffer company owned by R&L. U may want to look into them for otr. As for tanker, it wouldn't hurt to try a fuel hauling company or a cryogenic products company. Because in my mind bulk chemical tanker companies dont pay well enough.
But there is a food grade carrier based out of Fla. And they might have something you want for a job. Indian River Transport. Go on indeed and search and review companies. To get a better picture of who you might choose.
There are a ton of companies hiring out here. But witch one is really worth working for is the question?Patrick615 Thanks this. -

Yea Fl isn't a drivers state. Most companies stop going into FL because the rates on freight coming out of there are to low. LTL and tanker companies are good for local or regional. But I wouldn't let the 1 or 2 experience companies say they require stop me from applying.

Venezia Transport has a tanker base in Brooksville, FL

As far as moving to Florida I would shoot for the St Pete area if I were you. That much closer to Tampa for jobs over Sarasota and more affordable.
St Pete is a really nice area with a younger crowd downtown . Even the Hood isn't that bad.
Now Tampa that is another story.
Just my observation after living in Naples for 35 years. My good buddy has lived in St Pete for 15 yeas and I have spent a ton of time visiting and getting to know the area.
I Love it.
I have not been there in years but I really liked Cocoa Beach area also. Seemed very affordable.Last edited: Jul 10, 2019

Some companies have the criteria listed on the website. But just because they say they require 2yrs. Dont let that stop you from applying. Some companies will give you a chance. Loves tend to hire ppl with less experience than required. But it's up to the Regional manager of that yard.

Groendyke which bought out McKenzie has a terminal in Tampa
They are hiring. Have both fuel and chemical runs.
As long as you have a clean record they will hire with your experience. -
