    The mom and pop places are endangered,business is slow even in places where the economy is relatively good, and Michigan is pretty slow. I'm sorry to see places like that close.:biggrin_2554:

    Sad to see them close I hate to see anyone loose a job or a business.

    Sorry to see them close. It's sad to see how many of these mom and pop truck stops are closing -- even ones that have always been busy. With the credit drying up and the economy tanking, it's tough for them to make a profit. Unfortunately, as these truck stops dry up, their sorely needed parking capacity dries up with them.

    Another one of my old haunts bites the dust. As a Key Line broker in the 1970s, I have many memories of the Windmill when the main highway went past their front door. In their restaurant, I was once surrounded by a bus load of Dutchmen who were touring the states as a choir. None of them spoke English but they had an interpreter. They ordered by pointing to pictures in the menu. I was right at home at Don's Windmill.
