100% legal in CANADA
Under cabotage laws it is legal to point to point in both countries. ounce.
Under immigration laws it it is illegal for a Canadian to point to point in the US but LEGAL for a US driver to point to point in Canada once, then proceed directly to the US.
Then we get into loads that originate in Mexico ôr other countries and free trade zones.
Unrealistic dispatch?

I say let the Canadians have all of the loads in Deeeetroit and all of the loads going to NJ. I sure don't want to ever go to either location.
truckdriver31, D.Tibbitt and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
well then....they have to pay a "special toll"........
tscottme Thanks this. -
Well I didn't end up making the delivery anyway, had a feeling I wasn't going to make it. Came up 37 miles short. Appreciate all the feedback thus far.
Suspect Zero, D.Tibbitt and Truckermania Thank this. -
They cannot.
Same as we cannot grab a Canadian load in say Thistlebush and deliver to Brampton for example in Ontario. Loads to Canada out empty.
My knowledge and experience is limited to Canada's Winsdor-Toronto (And points above) down to Buffalo on the Queen's highway. We took quite a few Random Houses from Maryland into Toronto (Books, Music etc)
The other part of my experiences is finding the broker house responisble for my load papers and get them. Then proceed to Customs officer with the Paperwork on foot and stamp em into Canada etc.
To me it's a mystery how I can walk into a Winsdor Broker and see Paper documents almost as high as the ceiling surrounded the workers. They once they know who I am, what carrier and truck etc they go pick the papers for the load right up and hand it to me.
Then go hit the Winsdor Grocery shop and gather ... well I call it loot and pillage all the goodies we cannot have in the USA. Orange Pekoe Tea comes to mind for me and Minestrone soup for the ex.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
