finished with my mentor got my own truck and have spent most of my first week sitting only got 800 miles when i was supposed to be going home after 6 weeks being gone, looking for a decent company that will get me home when they tell me they will instead of having me sit for 3 days, and that will give me more then 800 miles a week.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

If you want regular hometime, i would suggest looking at flatbed. If you put your location up, many other guys or gals on here can point you in the right direction.

My father used to say the best time to look for a job is when you have one.
Don't jump ship until you get a new one.
The week after a holiday is always tough with everyone getting back and trying to find a load.
Try to stick it out for six months at least.

Western didnt get me home too much but I made money there. I hear a lot of good things about Melton. I worked for BTC in Memphis too. They've got some new equipment down there. I was home every week with them. Very rare I had to stay out over the weekend. I did well working there too. It's so many flatbed companies to choose from

If you come in this industry believing you are going to get home the exact minute you request, 100% of the time, then you are in for a stark reality. They won't. They will try, but your company can't control traffic, weather, breakdowns, and shipper screw ups or load cancellations.

I mention those because thoae are reasons I was delayed from getting home on time when I was otr. Sometimes you gotta roll with the punches.

Where is your location? Probably a couple dozen companies to choose from; depending on the hiring area you live in.

Check out EW Wylie. Long miles, you can get an assigned trailer after a few months, great equipment, and I’ve never been late for home time.
1 1/2 days off every week out.
