I was gonna say, I got that same motor in my 9200. It pours oil like the Exxon Valdez out the cam followers...
Hell of a good truck though.
Would the hissing snake happen to be in the area of the air dryer? Mine had been sitting a long time before I got it and hissed constantly out of the air dryer somewhere up top. It quit after driving it for a while. -
Hissing snake is coming from the foot control valve. It has push-in connectors, so hopefully it can be fixed by simply cutting the line square and then re-seating it. If not its a $175 valve.
Barcode-When your ready to put that Valdez to a stop, run her over to GA and I'll give you a hand replacing the gaskets. I have the experience.
-
That usually does the trick. If not, you can get the connectors that will screw into the valve. The o-rings inside the connector get dry and crusty after a while.
I appreciate the offer, this one's a company truck though and I'm gonna let them fix it. Then I might buy it from them.
I also have a line on an FLD for $4000... can't get the dang people to call me back though. They say it's road worthy.
Although I like these single bunk window 9200's for getting around in tight places, that FLD has more room and lots more storage. -
I was told the slip fit connectors couldn't be replaced? More info please..
-
That might be true and if so, that'd be a pretty crappy reason to have to replace the whole valve. I know I've had a bunch of those connectors replaced on this truck.
I think before I paid $175 for the valve, I'd drill and tap that one for a screw in connector.
Did you try cutting the line off yet? -
Not yet. That and the cam follower will be tackled this week.

I got ur pm but I dont have enough post to pm u back. Im pretty sure u can turn it by hand ill sheck in a little while. I know it just free wheels then engauges at 200 or so ive never worked on my fan or paid attention to wether I could move it by hand,
7mouths2feed Thanks this. -
I would look and make sure that they are not screwed in.If they will screw out u can go to the parts store and get the old stile with the ferrel and screw it in and fix it for a couple bucks.Thats what I did on my old Frtliner when a slip fit started leaking,I would replace it with the old style fitting.7mouths2feed Thanks this.
