I would like someone who knows what the two switches on the shifter are used for. Seeing I have no books ,, will someone set me straight?
One switch "the lower switch is a slider type" The top switch is a rocker type switch.
Confused, but not stupid,,, Little help???

They make the splits from high to lowrange the sequience depends on the trans. Ten speeds only use one button My super 10 splits everytime with the side shifter my straight 10 u shift 12345 then flip the switch on front of the shifter and 12345. A thirteen uses both switches and ive never drove a 18.

the rocker switch, is the range, u shift through all 5 gears then flip that switch then start over shifting through all 5 again,, the slide switch,, is the splitter, this switch when u are in a gear and are ready to shift u flip that switch forward and u can get a little more speed out of that gear before having to actually move a stick position, it basically gives u another half a gear
kickin chicken and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
I have a 13 speed and it sounds a bit different but I am sure they follow the same logic.
On the front I have a switch that goes up and down. Down is the low range up is the high range. Then I have a slider switch on the side. This is used to split the high range gears.
A big catch with splitting the high gears.......You can NOT go from one high range gear to the next high range gear. When you shift, you must slide the splitter into the low range and then into the next gear. Then you can split that gear. When downshifting, the same thing applies.
I typically never split the gears until I hit 12th gear and am #### near at full speed. I then will split the gear (almost like an overdrive switch). -
Thanks for your input, I called Meritor they made the transmission,,,Mine is a ESS transmission. They even sent me a operators manual, this solved all my questions and simplified use.
Again thanks for the replies

You can you-tube your tranny (9spd, 10spd, etc..) and watch videos that may help out some too.

What color is the switch, red 13sp, gray 18sp, and blue is 15sp, they all shift different
-
If you flip a switch and get little more speed you have shifted there are no half gears.Like stated earlier straight 10 12345 split 678910, 9 speed low then 1234 split 5678 super 10 its like a two speed axel splits in every gear 13 splits like a straight 10 and the last 3 split like a super 10.

High Range is over and back or over and up.
As noted the slide(splitter) is a half step for every gear in high range and over drive for the last hole. 13,15,18.
The average 15,18 never see full duty if properly driven
The holes are there if needed but Ive never had a need
to hit them all while jerking on 165K GVW.
I use less gears on my 15 now then most do with a 10 spd all day.
The only single stick box I can recall as a PITA was the old Spicer 14spd.

I always wondered what those things did
now what do those two buttons on the dash do? ones yellow and ones red....
kickin chicken Thanks this.
